Last year, I was amazed by the emerging parity in women's college v-ball, but this year it's even more so. Been watching Nebraska with all their fresh/exciting young talent (half their starting lineup are freshmen, with no seniors). But watching Texas and Minn, man, Texas players are clearly stronger than last year, and Minnesota looks really impressive too. Big, tall, lean, athletic, skilled girls all over the place. This is gonna be an exciting season for so many teams, and for us.

Landfair, who is supposedly the star, has been a major disappointment so far. Other teams are targeting her with serves because she handles them so poorly, her own serves are erratic, her blocking is inconsistent, and she is often out of position and out of system on defense. If it weren't for her errors, Minnesota would have beaten Texas. Wucherer and Staffmaster are future pros, Awoleye and Davis have been a pleasant surprise, and the rest of the team is solid. I don't know what is distracting Landfair, but she isn't the same player she was last year. If it were my team, she'd be watching from the bench until she gets her act together.
