It’s also annoying during the escape trial of sekhema trying to hit x on the crystal while there are any monsters around. It’s pretty much impossible to just click the crystal before killing the monsters as you will autotarget them.

If you can't pick up items or interact with things (like death crystals) when mobs are on-screen it's probably because you have a skill bound to the same button as interact. Unbind the skill and you can now pick things up!

@@haydosx true, but controller has limited buttons compared to keyboard. That “X” is valuable real estate.

I'm confused...There is a dedicated pick-up button. Use the Bind Screen from the radial menu to set it. I bind mine to X.
