We Bought our Honda 400's that are wide front and rear, at first I did not think we would like them because we wide 50" Quad Trails mostly, but after we got them and rode them, we fell in love with them wider, gives much more stability in the turns. Yes you have to watch out for the stumps, and the roots. Ours are 48" wide , and the 2014 is 48" 1/2 in the Rear. Great Video, as always!

I swapped wheels and tires only on my 250sx and went from 40 inch width to 43 inches and on my worst off camber turn, it made a big difference in stability. Got the tires on a customers upgrade, had 9 inch stock wheels from a 250es that got 12 inch rims, paint I had in stock, and it cost me 2 tubes out of pocket. My 2500 is on the road and my SUV sold the same day, Except fo smelling like a barn, I'm doing great. Thanks.

4" wider in the back is the benchmark I use for our trikes. We race cross country with ours and the added width and flex definitely helps. Tusk makes awesome aluminum hubs that give you plus 2" on a stock axle, my wife runs that on her 87 200X. My 250R uses a +4 axle

@robertgomez52482 жыл бұрын
I just rebuilt an old 185s and one of the first things I did was widen it up. I used offset wheels and 400ex hubs. I ended up with 43 inches. Then I tried some tusk extended 400ex hubs but it was too wide (47 inches). On the pavement the front tire would noticeably drag(understeer) and since about 50% of my riding is on the street it just didn't feel right. I also noticed at about 55 mph it didn't feel as stable (twitchy) because you are basically shortening the wheelbase in relationship to the width. It also looked kinda weird too, I went back to the 43 inch set up. Anyway keep up the good work, love the channel.
@mrcbuilds2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, Yes you can get TOO wide, 43 is a good overall width, at 47 inch I would think bending an axle would be a concern. Thanks for sharing and supporting the channel. Thanks you for the kind words and I will do my best to keep the ATC content coming!

Yes, install the engine, place the chain around the both sprockets and line up the front sprocket on the spline of the engine, slide it on, then bolt on the retainer.

But be careful the modern offset is not centered. like the OE wheels were. So if you can clean up one of your old wheels and put it on the front (centered) and put 2 modern wheels on the back or you can search around 3 wheeler forums like 3wheelerworld.com or Facebook Honda Hoarders and buy used factory wheels.
