The theme of most of your videos (doing extraordinary things) reminds me of a great quote “Go out on a limb - that’s where the fruit is.”

It seems to be human nature to want to practice what we're best at, but we'll get the best overall result by practicing what we're the worst at. Everything Claus says is really accurate.

As a drummer for a long time, I took up guitar because of shoulder injury which made playing drums painful. LOVE guitar even more for me. Conquering the weakest link is an advantage in all instruments.

True... I have decided to learn my guitar neck , notes and intervals, chord shapes,triads without hesitation... I’m sure it will make me learn everything else faster.If we want to improve there are things that must be done .

hi claus, Your lessons have helped me a lot, in different aspects of my life, thanks for that. my question is, what is the most efective way to improve ear (hear intervals, sing intervals, recognize chord progression). I am working on that a few months ago and has strengthened my skills as a musician, and helped me understand music as a musician and not as a guitarist and that made me a better guitarist. greetings from Argentina.

I have something with 3...now I've been playing for three months on the third string and third bar...in a three rhythm melody...my progress is three times... Great theory! So I met someone who has something with a 4, we're now having our own group the "3/4 th's" .. But then there was that other guy who said that for music the total should be more that the sum of the individual things, so when you want to improve fast you have to discover when the total becomes more than the sum....he said it has no use to find the thing that your good in...you must find the thing that you have to improve so there will be a balance ... also good idea.. And then there was the guy who said that when you do to many exercises you become to close to your instrument and then you do not see t well...so you have to study for a while complete other instrument ...an opposite instrument, a bit as they do at music universities.. And then there was... there was someone who said: you should ot look at the instrument, but at your own abilities! some people love to repeat and repeat to develop automatism .. other people just want to struggle, they find their inspiration in strangling... waaaaw...so many idea's.. Then there was another girl and she said: he has a guitar in front of him and he doesn't use it... a good teacher would use the guitar to explain the same theory...she was also smart..

Hello Claus, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with all of us! I am one of Those Guitarists who has hit a wall in terms of speed and technique, I have found your videos Inspiring, however when I visit your site, I don’t know which program to purchase; I would Like to play faster, with complete freedom: where should I start? Thanks! NP

claus can u please make a video on how playing slow after a million times makes u faster automactically I'm really stuck as I'm not sure the correct way to build speed I really want to play fast more than anything but I don't know the exact way I know uve said to play slow a million times but do u have to eventually push for speed or keep playing slow and one day ill just shred like crazy?
@overrotate6 жыл бұрын
TheMoka4 I feel like it is something to approach from both sides. Work slowly for cleanliness and perfect technique, then speed it up to the max you can while just able to maintain some technique. Then slow it down again and repeat. This is the process I have been working with. It takes time and dedication no doubt, but if ya really want it I believe you'll get it. 👍

Thing is... speed is a dead end. You will not learn anything playing fast. You should not set speed as a goal, it comes naturally. Try to become a better musician, and results will simply come. This guy’s right about playing slow, it’s the best way to learn. And play a lot of different stuff, don’t just go all in on shredding or whatever other technique you’re interested in.

It is because he was talking to me. Not everyone learns the same. You are obviously a more visual learner. That’s not a bad thing it’s just different. Me personally, I like visual but also explanation in detail. I’m a drummer and have been WATCHING guitar players all my life. I took it all in and know technique pretty well, now I want to know why.
