as a guy that plays both widow and ana i would say widow wins that duel most of the time if they spot each other at the same time. if ana sees widow before widow sees her i think ana has the advantage

Widow main here. The first widow guide was more accurate with this. Always take that duel unless she’s behind a shield or your low hp. Even though you have weapon shake Ana’s head is in the same place when she’s scoped allowing for a free headshot And her rate of fire allows you a second or two of not having weapon shake for you to hit the headshot on her.

@@WhiteFeatherr and that's kinda the point I think. In either case, it's not a matchup either player really wants to prioritize, so it's better to find other targets unless none are available. It's kinda like a Cree vs Tracer, it's a skill matchup that can swing in either favor and usually they don't want to take duels with each other that aren't necessary, and should focus other objectives instead.

As a support main, I also crouch at the moment that I release the volley to manipulate that hitbox even more, I also don't peek or linger around that corner for any longer than the volley duration, it's best to miss those shots than to risk getting hit by the enemy.

Other than grinding the game and aim training lobbies (which is easily the most important thing), you can try to maximise your framerate ingame for the lowest latency possible and upgrade to a higher refreshrate monitor. Also make sure you're using a mouse that's comfortable for your grip and a good quality, clean mousepad. Been playing FPS games competitively for over a decade, these things matter a lot.

I find playing her in Quick Play Classic is easier due to the lack of shields on your enemy's teams than it is on regular Quick Play! It isn't too difficult, I just need to get my positioning right. All of a sudden for no reason at all I turn into a Widow-Soldier sometimes and start spraying people when I clearly shouldn't 😂 And heeyy best of luck on your Moira plays too! I think as a general tip against most enemies, is that whenever possible you should always take positions that require that the enemy invest an ability to engage onto you. This can mean taking high grounds, shooting from inside a cover like a building, or simply having enough distance where the enemy can't approach you without you knowing about it. As a Pharah/Tracer player, I've had to specialize in assassinating Widow players to take out my most effective counter efficiently, and the amount of Widow players that neglect non-divable positioning is staggering (this applies to all ranks, not just mid-low). Often enemies don't want to engage you head on, so be aware of how enemies might be able to flank you or in other ways engage your position in ways that are advantageous to them - and then find a way to eliminate that advantage. This simple step could probably help most Widow players go up a rank.

Hey sym main here, I'm about to betray my kind. Much better tip against sym as widow, sym will try to "turret bomb" you by teleporting 3 turrets to you and going through for a right click to follow up. When this happens (trust me, i know how people counter my own plays) A: Immediately hook away B: Commit, wait for her to come through the tele and headshot her then melee the base of the tele to kill the turrets (or if she doesn't follow through and just does the tele, simply melee the base of the tele) Additionally try to headshot her if you find her setting the turret bomb up (throwing three turrets on the exact same spot and targeting the tele) You can also play out of range of the teleporter, preventing her from even sending the turrets at you.

That widow duel tip was really pog with the fake scope crouch peak prefire, def gonna be using that. Typically lower rank widows either avoid peaking corners, peak really slowly to try to win the click/latency battle, or jump/grappling hook to catch the enemy off guard, all of which aren’t really effective.

To also be better at hitting heads, crosshair placement is key. Put your crosshair at head height and look at common places enemies move through. Let the enemy heads walk into the crosshairs and M1 at the right time.

Honestly one of the most important things as widow is only to go for shots you’re comfortable with. Since a headshot does 2.5x more damage than a bodyshot, a headshot is always better, but if you know you can’t hit the head, go for a few body shots
