Greetings from the UK. Great review. The videos you produce are fantastic! I always look forward to watching them, you have a beautiful country ideal for exploring on a motorcycle. I also have a V Strom250 and think it is a great little bike. All day comfort (I don’t have a problem with the seat), 300 miles + per tank of fuel, very reliable, good build quality. As your videos prove the V Strom250 is a very capable and versatile motorcycle. Ok it’s not a sports bike and it’s not a serious off roader but it will have a go at anything and do it very well. By the way your English is very very good! Keep up the good work. Thank you.

I think your review is very accurate, I’ve had mine for just over a year now and absolutely love the way it can tackle most roads, particularly minor roads and green lanes here in UK. I have changed my tyres to Heidenau K66 for some extra grip on back roads and they work better than the stock tyres. All day comfort for me, particularly with a slightly bigger screen. Handling and power output is fine for my needs, any more power required and I use my Fazer.
@transylvanianrider3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Paul ! I still search for a better option of tyres but unfortunately there are not so many on the market... I replaced my rear tyre wit a Mitas Terra Force 140/80/17 and the front, (recenty) with Deli Tyre... Not the best combination, but each one is better then the original one. Somebody from InterCars told me that Metzeller will make sone intermediary profile for this bike... Let's hope:) Until then, have fun and safe rides with your V-strom ;) !

I'm heading for 15k with the 250, same riding as you do, but I'm based in Bucharest. One thing to also mention, as I ride it almost daily in a big city (understand Cluj is not the same challenge), is that it's easy to drive and beat the traffic, it does not overheat due to the small engine, making it a great motorcycle for the city. I understand the limit you auto imposed for not upgrading the tyre and also know that you have been safer with different rubber in some situations. So, as I'm approaching 15k (bike bought new, original tyres), I just ordered the ONLY type of tyre that allow for a bit more grip in the back roads - that's Anlas winter grip. Also know that due to the small front tyre, there's no other option to upgrade to the big tyre league of the adventure type as the tyre sets don't usually get separated. Hope to be safer on the roads with them. What is your first choice for buy new ones (you definitely need to change them as they age). good review
@transylvanianrider3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Vabtan ! I changed temporarely the back tyre after 12k, with a Mitas Terrar one (140/80/17) The traction in off road improved a lot. Still waiting for Metzeller Tourance proper size set ;) Best regards from Cluj !

Thanks for your honest review, Adrian. I rode the little V-Strom for a whole day in England years ago, on- and offroad. It's not a weapon, but I liked it. What stopped me from buying last year it was horsepower (I need a bit more umph for getting into the Alps), lack of 21 inch front wheel, and I prefer spoked wheels (tubeless tyres would be perfect, unlike my Transalp 600). But on trails the Suzuki 250 works surprisingly fine. Cheers from Nürnberg/Germany, Günter I've been riding Metzeler Tourance "Street tyres" for quite a while, even offroad, and you learn a lot from unsing them instead of more adventurous tyres. But anyway, in the long run I would get more suitable tyres for Transsylvania. You dare a lot on your street tyres, especially in the mud. Combined with your good riding technique you could venture our even more.

Awesome objective review. My story is similar to yours, I was between the BMW GS 310 ( I did not like the one cilinder TVS engine), the Kawasaki Versys 300 ( sporty bike, but no power on low RPMs and I didnot like the seat height), Benelli TRK 251 ( really slow and noisy) and I went to Suzuki and I loved the Vstrom 250 it is reliable, good looking and feels sturdy so I bought it in red color. As you said it is not a sport bike, is a confortable Commuting-Adventure- Tourer bike ( thats the way I see it). What I Like: 1. Design, it has a solid cool design ( at least for me). 2. It looks bigger than it is ( people think is a 500 cc bike). 3. Dual chanell ABS. 4. The dashboard is complete and easy to read. 5. Confortable. 6. Fuel consuption 7. Fuel Tank Capacity. 8. Handle / rides well. 9. Suzuki bulletproof reliability. Dislikes: 1. You cannot turn ABS off. 2. Better tires ( I will buy Pirelli Sport Demon next year). 3. Led Headlight ( the bulb headlight is obsolete these days). 4. The Bike needs a little bit more Power, it has only 26 hp; with a 300 cc engine and around 30-32 hp it would be the perfect small displacement adventure touring bike. 5. That the crashguard came OEM, you have to buy it aftermarket when for example The Benneli TRK 251 or the Mcbor x3 have it from stock ( both motorcycles are direct competitors of the Vstrom). My Grades: Design: 9 Confort: 10 Brakes : 8.5 Reliability: 10 Value: 9 Engine: 8 ( Reliable but needs more power). Excellent starter adventure bike ( which is my case). Love your videos!! Take Care.
@transylvanianrider4 жыл бұрын
Perfectly summarized Victor ! Regarding the ABS, i just ordered a dual switch, and when i will have time, in this winter, i will install it to switch off the ABS. Great review and very useful, thank you, as I am considering this very bike. I really like your straight-forward, no-nonsense approach, telling a prospective buyer exactly what he needs to know. It is clear to me that I have a similar approach to you and therefore similar needs - I'm not interested in power or speed (done that, got the T shirt), but want a comfortable, reliable, economic bike that I also like the design of and its look and the little V Strom would seem to fit the bill. I still have my trusty 2003 V Strom 1000, with only 30,000kms on it, but as I'm getting old (65) I'll soon find the sheer weight and size of it a liability and I no longer need it's mile-munching or Porsche-slaying abilities! So thank you once again, having a review from a real owner, telling me exactly what I want to know, is just great. Hope to visit your wonderful country some day. Take care and stay safe.

Let's add one more comment to hit the 100 :) I am riding a Versys x300, I absolutely agree your points, good to see other riders not suffering from horse power mania. This is a very practical bike with excellent price/performance ratio. Question: How do you double the box capacity? I didn't catch it in the video. An kind advice: as a general rule: don't change to 50w or 60w oil. Denser oil means of course less oil consumption, but on the other side less lubrication. Factory oil will guarantee you can ride this bike out of the world! Greetings from Hungary.
@transylvanianrider4 жыл бұрын
Servus Vince🤘🏻and thanks for the comment! Glad to see you riding a Versys 300. It was one of my first choices ;)🛵 Regarding the top case and the carrying capacity, i put all my stuff in a backpack, and after that in the top box. If on the route, i need more space for some reason, i can put the "hatijak" on my back and free up the topbox. The oil consumption is stabilised after the review, and i think, somehow, the Castrol oil and the higher revs are responsable. Now i run on Motul, and my next oil change will be the same (Motul 5100 10w40). After that i will see... Best regards from Koloszvar ! 🤘🏻🍻

Hi Rafa ! Sorry for the late answer, but YT didn't notified me about your message :( I am very happy with my bike, and after every ride i compliment myself for the purchase... but i am not hypocrite. CB500x ( especialy the new models from 2021-2022) are better. If the price gap will not be so hight, i would do the upgrade, but i'm sure i will miss some parts of the V-Strom. At this moment, my philosophy is : the best bike is the one you already have. Have fun with it ! Best regards !

I thought your review was very honest and really good👍.... Your filming is fantastic, I think your bike would benefit slightly better if it had a slightly more off road tyres, however you are a very good rider off road... I currently ride a Royal Enfield Himalayan and I nearly bought a V strom 250cc instead, so maybe next year I'll get v strom 250cc.... Thanks for sharing your review and take care👍... All the best 🍺🍻🍻🍻🍻

I have the bike with the same engine Gixxer 250 SF. 600 kms a day touring is very easy. The speedo error is about 9-10 per cent. So actual comfortable cruising speed is 85-95 kmph. The mileage is anywhere from 32 kmpl to 37 kmpl for me. Unfortunately, v storm 250 isn't available in India. Only the 650.

Hi Sunelven ! I recommend you to try them if you can. CB500x (the new model 2020 or 2021) is the best choice but if the price difference is significant, any other model could be a good purchase ;) Most important is to convince you that a good adventurous ride, don't need a top expensive bike. @@transylvanianrider Thank you! I have been thinking about the cb500x but it depends if I can find any for a good price.. The V-Strom 250 seems to be an interesting bike.. Was there any other reason you didn't want the 310GS? I live in Northern Europe.
@transylvanianrider3 жыл бұрын
@@sunelven Even if is a little more capable in off road, bigger engine & more power, and it has switchable ABS, i didn't like the mono cylinder engine and the build quality. Also the form factor is not the best and the tank capacity is lower. I am quite sure, even if I had found both at the same price I would have chosen Suzuki, but tis is just my opinion...:)

Hi very good review and appreciate the honest real life review. I have one question, what is comfortable cruising speed on highway.. Is 100-110 kmph comfortable?
@transylvanianrider3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sandeep! Yes, it is ok at 100 - 110. I ride often at 120 and over but at that speed the engine is higly reved. At 120km/you have 9100rpm Best regards !🤘
@66666sandy3 жыл бұрын
@@transylvanianrider thanks for the reply! In India the 650 is available but that's too much for me. The 250 power is enough and manageable for my personal taste and I'm excited for it as it's set to launch here within 1 year 😀. around 100 kmph cruising is best here as anything more is dangerous in highway conditions for me. My next motorcycle for sure if there's nothing better than it at the time

Nice and honest review, thanks a lot, ive been eying the 310GS because of its comfort, the amazing seat and soft suspension, my only concern is i also want an engine that performs smoothly at 110kmph, does the vstorm feel the same at 110 as it feels at 50kmph? Also how is the suspension?
@transylvanianrider2 жыл бұрын
Hi Umesh! Sorry for the late answer but YT didn't notified me about the messages...:( When i bought the V-Strom i also looked at the GS310. I am glad i choosed the Suzuki. Two days ago i come back from a two day trip with my wife as a pillion, and i did a constant 120km/h on the highway. The bike behaves very well considering the small engine. The suspension is ok, i can't complain at all. Best regards !

Thank you for this nice review man. 🙏 I make long journeys with mine. I feel sorry for the engine because in our country traffic flows arround 120 km/h between cities. And I have to go fast to feel safe. I heard some users changing front sprocket for lower rpm at high speed. Did you ever consider changing front sprocket to 15t one?
@transylvanianrider4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Hasan ! I am not intending to change the sprockets (i saw some negative feedbacks from those who changed to Versys 300). If i needed more speed i would buy another bike (CB500x perhaps). Best regards from Romania !
@Imran-tq8iw3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this video. I’m not keen on speed either, I can’t decide between the Kawasaki Versys X 300 and the Suzuki V Strom 250. Which one of the two would you recommend if I want to stay on asphalt, and occasional off roading ?
@transylvanianrider3 жыл бұрын
Hi Imran. It depends, The Versys has more power but at very high revs, bigger & spoked wheels (i prefer tubeless tyres), higher saddle. If you find both bikes at same price, Versys sounds like a better option. But if the price difference is important, the V-Strom can do the same and is better looking for me :)

I bought the road bike version in SouthAfrica Gizzer sf250 due to the petrol price, bike does excellent mileage, light and easy to handle. Only con is the seat is uncomfortable, like riding a horse, one has to squeeze your knee into the saddle😂 It is lower maintenance,cheaper to repair and easier to handle being smaller engine yet fast enough for highway riding and reasonable overtaking. It does need a bigger battery too and a centre stand.😊

Very nice review and a very good bike. I was looking for the same bike last year and then got a good deal for the GSX 250 R, the brother of your V-Strom (same Engine). It has more of a sportbike look, but of course its not extremly sporty. Its more like a touring bike for fun in the twisties and although it only has 25hp I can keep up with bigger bikes, as long as there isn´t a long straight :) The bike is also very easy to work on and I try to do everything myself. But there is one thing I dont like too much. The service manual says that the valves need to be checked every 5.000km, which I find a very short period. So I have a question. Have you done the valve clearences for service yet? Was there anything to adjust? Because I am thinking of only checking them every 10.000km. Greetings from Austria :)

Oh, I have now seen that some others have already asked about the valve clearence checks :D

Great review, very honest and accurate. Spot on!. Do you have the orginal tyres on the bike at 10K? I am interested in changing the tyres to something more aggressive for off road. What tyres did you find that suited the bike even though you didn't go ahead. I have found very few options when it come to a 50/50 tyre particularly for the 17 inch front wheel. Stay safe.

Nice review. I am planning to buy a Vstrom 250 and i'm looking for crashguard set also. Is this crashguard protective for engine?
@transylvanianrider4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The SW Motech crash guard is mainly for the upper part of the bike. After my previous small crashes i decided to buy this model, because the side panels are broken easily. The engine is not so exposed. For the engine you can buy the Givi engine guard witch is more cheaper. Best regards and enjoy your future bike ! 😉🤘
@Νοσταλγόςτουογδόντα4 жыл бұрын
@@transylvanianrider thanks for the answer. I would like to protect the upper guard and the engine also. I think if is it possible to fit both crash guard sets into motorcycle. Also you talked in the video about oil consumption. Is this a problem that is going bigger through the years?
@transylvanianrider4 жыл бұрын
@@Νοσταλγόςτουογδόντα I don't know if both, SW Motech and Givi guards can be fitted together... I saw some turkish and chinese brands witch are protecting well the side and the engine but i don't know how is the quality. Also they are bulky and i don't like the design , but worth investigating:) I think the consumption is related to oil grade combined with riding for longer period at very high revs (+9000rpm = 120-130km/h) In normal riding condition i didn't notice this issue.

Felicitari pt. review! 2. Dealeri acceptabili in Cluj sau Ungaria n-ai gasit? 3. Bine Man! Inca o data, felicitari pt. review si multzam pt. eventualele raspunsuri utile. Ride on!

Salut Razvan !
