I have written about this before. But we have a casa de campo near Riobamba. My wife is Ecuadorian. We have been traveling around Europe for about 5 weeks now. Spain, Italy, Austria and tomorrow to Germany. I am so homesick for my Ecuadorian life. Way more than my wife. I feel like this trip has been a big waste of money for me. But I am really vested in my teaching the kids in the orchestra (OSMUR) in Riobamba. I applaud your year-long adventure, but I can not imagine doing the same. Every place we have been is overloaded with tourists. I am a country boy and hate the crowds. Madrid, Toledo, Rome (the worst place I've ever been for the number of tourists), Sicily, Vienna, Málaga, Cordoba, and Seville Berlin tomorrow (ug). I'm dreading the power outages in Ecuador, but I don't care. I wanna go home😢.

I was in Istanbul a couple of years back for my friend's wedding. I loved it there and I love how they party all night (and day!) long. We were partying at 3am on a Wednesday! As a black man, I'm very cautious about where I travel because I know experiences can be different, but never once did I feel race was an issue and I never thought about it one time. I wasn't in Paris long, but I too loved it and was pretty shocked that I didn't have the bad experience that so, so, soooooo many people say they've had there. Even some native French people complain about Paris, so I was very happy I had no issues there. We did a lot of eating! I liked Portugal (we were in Lisbon) and while I liked it, everybody smokes ALL THE TIME!!! You kinda had to get used to the fact that you could be enjoying yourself with your s/o at an outdoor cafe, then all of a sudden, you're smelling cigarette smoke, because a group sat next to you and they're all huffing and puffing away. Let's just say you'll get a ton of second hand smoke if you spend any time in Lisbon. I've been to London numerous times because I have family there and I like it because you can see the European influence. I love the fact that you're reminded that so many countries are nearby. I've seen the videos about Spain and yes, they're becoming VERY HOSTILE to foreigners, because with AirBnB, a lot of locals can't afford to live in their own cities. So while it's annoying to spend thousands of dollars on vacation, only to be met with hostility, they're making their plight known to us. I don't know what the solution to that is. Maybe don't allow foreign investors to buy property?

Love the map animations guys. It really helps a lot. We want to go back to Luxembourg, West Germany and Belgium in December. But we also want to fly in and out of Amsterdam. I didn't remember where things were. So I thought we were going to have to cross Germany back and forth. But when I looked at google maps, I realized that they're all right next to each other. My point is that your map animations really help us to understand where you're traveling. So thanks.

We live in Salinas on the border of libertad near the beach. Walking to the commisariato my wife and son were stopped by two guys on a motorcycle. No weapon shown and my wife had a taser that scared them off. 6 months later same thing happened to me walking alone in the same spot I'm 61 by the way. Never took my taser out, just pushed the guy that got off the motorcycle and they rode off. I just kept walking. I like to walk for exercise and will not stop despite the fact it is more dangerous lately. Buying solar panels to deal with more future power outages. We LOVE Ecuador have been going since 2000. Whenever I return to the US, I can't wait to get back as soon as possible. I still recommend moving there to anybody concerned about security. We have a bicycle group every Wednesday and Saturday and ride to the chocolatera. We also sail. We often see whales sailing. If buying be aware ecuadorians like very loud parties.

If you make it back to France, I HIGHLY recommend Chamonix. Just wow. I also agree with your thoughts on the French people. I found them to be incredibly friendly and warm (and kind of laid back). And they were not snotty when I spoke horrible French. BTW, I am from a small town in Kansas (RCJH!) and I actually prefer smaller towns/cities, so I agree with what people in England suggested (see comment about Chamonix above :-)

Welcome back JP! Enjoyed Amelia’s venture into video creation. You’re right about speaking French in France; it sounds right and they repeat it in what sounds the same, but you did not say it correctly. London was expensive when I was there earlier this year. Part of the problem is the dollar conversion to the British Pound was around .77 there I figured I was losing more than 20% right off the top. A friend like New Castle.

I have lived and traveled in England and have suggestions for your future travel. The Cotswolds are very picturesque, as is Bath. Wales and Scotland are worth a trip, but the small city we liked best is Oxford, built around 1000-1200 AD, and near the Cotswolds. There are also smaller cities than London, for example Manchester and Liverpool. Although it is mostly cool for many months of the year, it is also cold and rainy for several months. Summer weather is best, and that's when tourism is popular. It's worst in London.

Its theartres and museums are second to none, shopping (even considering today`s online activity) is superb. The toursit attractions are amazing and the ransport system, while old and cramped, is extensive and can get you anywhere on the Underground. However, becaues all of this you will pay for it.

I think the tour groups should be only 10 and no more! I seen many large groups like 29-50 and it’s so horrible because they are just in everyone’s way! I did not like them either and I don’t blame the locals for being annoyed. They should ban companies from how many allowed in a group. Just nuts.

If you are planning to tour South America, I would recommend Brazil-not Rio so much, or São Paulo, but the south of the country, the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. There, you will find rolling, lush hills and, what is fascinating for me, towns colonized by Italians, Germans, and Japanese. There is even a city, Prudentopolis, in the state of Paraná, where most of the inhabitants are descendants of Ukrainians. This region of Brazil has a high standard of living, a low crime rate, and very affordable prices. There are of course many other incredible places to visit in Brazil, too many to mention here.

Panama’s currency is the US Dollar, so no need to worry about exchange rates. Panama City’s skyline looks like Miami. International hub at Tocumen. Copa Airlines is headquartered there.

This seems to add up to more than 90 days. Am I missing something? Great vid!

How to build a successful travel channel: have a girl with a million dollar smile and an excellent videographer with a sense of humor. Love your channel. Have been all over world and enjoy your insights. Dublin and Edinburg were friendliest people, hard to beat Italy for history. Catania Sicily best surprise, medieval, Mt Etna volcano and large city behind.

While you're in SEA, I'd suggest Vietnam. We spent four nights in Hanoi and were treated magnificently. I'm itching to spend a month or two there.

I was there. Enjoyed the food a lot, but unfortunately, the air quality and a heavy traffic was very difficult to handle ..

Glad you guys are doing better from the last video. I'm with you guys, I love traveling in train in Europe. Like you said, so relaxing and full of amazing scenery. Also, if you return to Italy, I recommend Ravena. Not commonly mentioned but absolutely lovely city.

So re: 18:35, my wife and I visited Paris back in 2022 and always refer to it as a Paris vacation as opposed to a France vacation. To your point, just visiting NYC (from abroad) is just that and not a visit experiencing America. If anything, NYC isn't really representative of America. (Honestly, Chicago is more representative of an American city; most major cities in the US emulate Chicago more than NYC....and I'm a native NYer.) ALL that said, visiting a lesser-known areas of a given country is SOOO much more rewarding.
Is English just badly pronounced French?
