I am so proud to have grown up in Chicago and given the luxury of visiting my parents homeland Quito Ecuador since the age of 9 for many summers while growing up. Now a family man my own family has visited twice. My Mexican wife has met many of my relatives down there and has enjoyed it. We were set to travel last year for a 3 week adventure. To begin with, the actual equator is not on the Mitad Del Mundo monument itself but actually 334 yards north outside the entrance on the main road but the Mitad Del Mundo is nevertheless good for photos. This video brought back memories of my trip to Ecuador with my girlfriend (now wife), Quito was a cool city the Basilica del Voto Nacional along with El Panecillo and the chocolate in the indigenous market were amazing, and we also been to Banos and done the bike ride along the Ruta de las Cascadas which had lush green landscapes around with a canyon, and also our day trip to Laguna Quilotoa. We visited Cascada San Rafael which was at the time the highest waterfall in Ecuador and an amazing place but sadly it no longer exists today due to the erosion of the Rio Coca. Even done the Galapagos too.
