did something similar, except that i lived with my parents. luckily managed to get my apartment for super cheap, and then put every bit of my savings into the renovations and furniture, it got to the point, where i had to skip a few months before moving in, so i could buy everything i needed and after buying the last thing (tv), i was left with 700 euros for two weeks, before i got another paycheck :) glad to see someone who isnt filthy rich doing renovations, hope ur happy with what you got out of it

My in-laws neighbour was EXACTLY the same as yours. They had a large rear and loft extension completed with a Juliet balcony overlooking my in-laws garden. Then objected to a reasonable rear extension that my in-laws wanted to do. The council came round did an inspection and laughed at their objections.

It's always hilarious with these types of petty neighbours in terraced houses, because they completely overlook the fact that neighbouring property plays a large role in their own house valuation.

My gosh, what a joy to watch this. You're a man after mine own heart. I decided years ago, that if a pimply school leaver could get paid whilst they learn some of these trades, a lady in her 60s could, too. My driveway has a new surface £250 v £7,500 All my painting Reno's are now done by me, as well as furniture flips. & It's fun. I'd stop at the intricate foundation work you're doing, though!

Wow! London. I worked in London and lived in Hampstead Heath during 1962. It snowed in London and it looked like a classic Christmas movie or Christmas card. I could have lived there forever, but my husband, at the time, who was English (and the reason I was able to work in England), didn't want to. He preferred California, USA. I was 21 or 22 and I'm now 81, but still remember London vividly.

As s one one who has spent three plus years renovating in Notting Hill, I can tell you how ridiculous your neighbours straight off. Here’s why. You accomplished all of it in a mere TWELVE MONTHS! My renovation, like most renovations in this posh area take literally YEARS! I for one would have done what you did, but I could never do what you do. Your neighbours should be thanking you and overjoyed. You’ve added value to their property too, and did it in only ONE YEAR! Very well done. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼👍🏼

I really appreciate how you walked us through the whole renovation. I’m in interior designer who not only works for clients but also buys renovates and sells his own properties. I’ve never done a project to this extent before but I have done major hundred thousand dollar plus projects that I move into and then sell a year or two later. It’s been a very successful venture for me over the 35 years that I’ve been doing it. I can understand that doing a project In an expensive location has its downfalls, but the upside is this there’s loads of buyers when you’re ready to sell. Fortunately, in Canada, when it is your primary residence, and then you sell, There is no capital gains tax, a real bonus financially. You are so knowledgable about all the aspects of construction and where to spend money and where you can save money is really critical and having a successful project and you obviously are doing everything right. I’ll continue watching your videos for inspiration and also for sharing with clients who are thinking of doing a major renovation.

I have done it myself and know what it’s like. It took years of work on the house while living in it, working full time, doing overtime to pay for it. Just keep going slowly and methodically and you will get there. I finished mine in the end and later sold it last year then bought another wreck that I am working on now. In case you wondered why I am going through this again; I was able to buy a larger house without a mortgage and have enough cash to pay for the renovations. Good luck. 👍

LOL), 2) Compared to the other 'posh' houses in your neighborhood, how much would your home appraise for now? Especially with the added bdrms & baths. You said you wouldn’t realize all the things that it takes for a renovation that you do and YES!!! We have an acre of land as well so not only did we gut the entire thing and replacing all the heating, cooling, electrical and plumbing we are also redid the entire exterior. I mean 14 large trees removed, driveway, tuck pointing, stone work, covered patio and patio. Cheers to you for taking on this project, my husband is a general contractor so we have the contacts but doing it ourselves would have taken ages!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Staying committed to a solid and consistent hustle mindset, whether you're living with the hell of a terrible office job or the hell of living on a building site, is so powerful. I can’t imagine moving a bed from floor to floor or having a finished bathroom before demolishing the existing one. I lived through a kitchen renovation while I continued to live on my second floor. OMG what an amazing piece of synchronicity - I actually played at the house not long after construction was complete - the property is quite stunning when you also consider the footprint it sits on. The video does not do it enough enough justice! .. aside from being a musician I come from a commercial Design & Built background, so fully appreciate the vision and finished reality!

You have a good narration to go with the constructed progress. I like that extra effort which ties everything together for the viewer. As we're not all into construction, it significantly enhances the video rather than just a time lapase of the work progress. It's learning and entertainment at the same time.

Wowsa! This is by far the most impressive renovation I've ever seen. You are one impressive & inspiring human. I'm going to share this with my 14 year son who has similar aspirations to yourself. Thank you for sharing.

I messed up. Don't do what I just did. I skipped forward several minutes because I assumed it would be boring, and halfway through, I was completely riveted and had to backtrack to watch the bit I hadn't seen. This is fantastic, and underscores why I choose to do all my own work. Complete control of the project, and the maximum possible return on investment. Superb work

Great video well presented. I felt your pain, the cost, the amount of work, the strange trades & people you have to deal with. I was in the building trade for 30 years like you i could do it all but thankfully i have just retired and people are still trying to get me to do plastering work lol. Building takes its toll on your body damp cold dusty heavy work. Just one thing in your tool list you forgot Shovel, Hammer, & more Tea than you can shake a stick at. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

What a stunning result! This video makes me sad actually: my attempt to do a (light) house renovation was an utter failure, and every day I hate myself for the choices I made (the people as well as the finish -- but mostly the people). You clearly know what you are doing, where to get the hands dirty and when to leave the job to somebody else, which I am sure helped you get the best possible result.

Awesome work mate! I'm currently renovating a 5 bed mid-terrace myself so I appreciate just how much effort goes into the stuff you don't see. I'm also doing the plastering and have got good at it so it's saving more money but costing more time. Well done on the result 👍🏻

@@isabella6075 it's going really well, thank you. It's consumed my life though I must admit. I'm moving in at the end of the month to finish things off. The plastering has taken the most time. When I do another project, I'll definitely be better at completing tasks in order. I've been working too much on finishing the kitchen and bathroom when there's been lots of messy work still outstanding. On the next project I'll do all of the plastering then move onto the next stages, such as prepping for decorating and installing the kitchen and bathroom.

Beautiful work! Can't believe you managed to do all that work in 7 months!! That's insane!! Would love to know how much the house is valued at now that you've renovated it!

Looks really amazing, you did a fantastic job. You did an absolutely massive amount of work - well done. It must have been incredibly exhausting but what a result to be proud of. I like that you encourage others to do the same. It takes a lot of guts, time, energy and sacrifice but it’s worth it. My last landlord kept telling me to move out and buy anything and to stop wasting my money paying his rent, a nice guy who encouraged me to take on a much smaller project than yours! Congratulations!

My hubby thinks you must be a son he didn't know about! He loves you. Your attitude to work getting a good deal etc is at one with his. We have between us built block of flat renovated ancient cottages lived in a bungalow which we turned into a house like you used tin lid on top and acrow props everywhere!! Taken down chimneys too what a mess. I spent a 70 mile an hour storm with the tin lid on and the sheets flapping with my head under the pillow scared to death! ❤️ love what you did with the London house. HUZZAH. From two retired inveterant renovaters/builders.

I’m a builder that has just completed my first London project for myself in London and I very impressed with what you have taken on and completed. Enjoyed watching your journey. I also have fallen out with the Neighbours. But I was working 12 hours a day so they had the right to complain 😂. To get it done in a year is nothing to be snubbed at! Where did you get your kitchen from?

This was such a great video. Loved how you narrated it, it was really entertaining and pleasant to watch. I'm currently renovating an old log cabin where I do all the work myself (with no experience) so watching and hearing your "do it yourself attitude" was really inspiring to hear! Also this was insanely impressive work!

Well done. For us outer London has always suited us better (detached, more space) but for an inner London house this one is lovely - a great piece of work. I have neer done works so never disturbed neighbours and I have had them near me for 2 years now one project, 6 months another and now house next to that and just as one ends the one right next door will start again - noise noise noise and of course all be people who break the law/rules eg no works should be after Sat lunch time.

Congratulations on a great project and video! The house looks fantastic. Agreed with many of the people who’ve commented. It’s really good to hear the costs and the amount time taken to complete the house, how to cut costs, the pit falls and the words of encouragement. Just subscribed to your channel. I’ll be watching the rest of the videos 😊😊
