I’m too old now to put in sweat equity into flipping houses, so now during the summer I grow enough fruits and veggies to sustain us for a year. Whatever we grow I always freeze dry the excess. During the fall we make our yearly trip to my wife’s family 17K acre farm / ranch in Montana (a 12 hour drive). We barter some of our freeze dried veggies and fruit for 1/2 a beef and a pig. Me & my husband bought a “crack” house back in 1989 , we assumed a mortgage with $3500 savings and our house payment was $385 including taxes & insurance. We owed $18,000 on a $50,000 home. The windows were sprayed painted black . He did all the skilled labor and I helped with sweat labor & design. A lot was done before we moved in to make it livable but we did the bathroom , kitchen and utility room the first year .We sold it 5 years later and walked away with $53,000 for the down payment on our 5 bedroom family home. The family who bought it loved it and raised their children there. I still drive by from time to time. Worked so hard on house number 2 too! LOL Long story short I am on house #5 and it is all out my system LOL staying put and this home is the official homestead for me ❤ You made this place amazing!! TYFS

I took a class inbuilding a shed which we actually built. It was all from scratch and nothing prefab. We went to Lowes in the contracter section and learned how to order proberly determined amounts of paint, lumber, siding, faseners, etc. Your video made it all look simple because you are a young expert who like all great carpenters, are ethical, precise, creative, daring, resourceful, amble and able, sure footed, coordinated, determined, consistent and willing to admit what didn't work well, how you would do things differently and the willingness to learn about new techniques and tools and equiptment. Your video was enlightening, instructive, refreshing, entertaining and very much appreciated. If there was one thing I would tell others when informing them about this video it would be this. "He explains everything and he admits what did not work and why it did not work and what he would have done differently. Plus he identifies each tool and material and it's use." Great job! Beautiful job. I can’t even put up a shelf so I find this sort of video just… phenomenal! Great stuff 👍

I have been in.Residential and Industrial construction for 30 years, so I think I can give an educated experience..Nice job..This house has 1000% more curb appeal than before..I think you made some great choices, and the workmanship was real good, as well. If I were looking for a home of this size to rent, I would absolutely want to look at this one....😊

The house was never ugly. Yes it was in disrepair at first. But after that it was just plain. And plain is not a synonym of ugly.

I agree. It wasn't a crap house; it was just clean and plain.. Some people love to criticize.

The description of ugly is the over done boring colours of white and grey on every other house that is done up nowadays.

I really loved watching you think outside the box. This might sound crazy but I think half of the world's problems would be solved if more people thought outside of the box like you did

One. It’s beautiful! Two. Don’t ever try to get away without a permit. It’s a nightmare when they find you. And it’s the nicest house in the neighborhood

I think you did a great job. The only thing I would add are some wood flower boxes underneath the windows to connect the wood around the door. Same stain.

I can see how that would give it a cottage vibe would probably tie in with the shutters well.

Loved watching this! Impressive to see how much better this house looks from start to finish!

Good job. Maybe consider flower boxes with longer shutters to make the windows look bigger. A wider front porch might have made the house look more comfy. My friend said taller bushes under the windows. You did a great transformation, and I applaud you.

When I saw this at 0:54 I just closed the video. That's actually insane.

Don't listen to mean people in the comments. Some people are just unhappy. Your house looks FABULOUS! Just an incredible transformation. It's a wonderful piece of real estate now. A lot of us live in small ranchers.

I really ENJOYED watching you work on this DUMP!!!! You TRULY TRANSFORMED IT!!!! The only thing missing would be to have it BLESSED!!!! After all, it was a "CRACK HOUSE"!!!!
