This is my 1 year owner's review of the 2023 Genesis G70. Is it reliable, how is the gas mileage, what mods have i done to it, how does it drive? I talk about all that and more in this video. My biggest complaint with the car is there is not the best aftermarket support for it.

Apologies if you guys are getting bad video quality. KZbin is doing something weird with the compression. The raw export looks perfectly fine on my computer, but watching it on youtube it is crazy blurry and grainy if you are not streaming at 4k. So yeah, if possible, please watch this in 4k for best viewing experience, thanks!!

"Is it as unreliable as everyone says"...?? I've literally never heard anyone say it was an unreliable car.
@HammysShowcase

Alot of people view Genesis as a Hyundai, which we all know it is nowhere near the same quality, but therefore, people immediately think it's an unreliable car and often is the biggest concern when people are considering buying this car. I know it was a concern for me. Genesis is ranked top 10 every year for most reliable cars, so that title is to appeal to the potential buyers who see this as a crummy Hyundai and are worried it's a bad car

@@HammysShowcase Nowadays I think most people who are reasonable and have a hint of knowledge know that Hyundai and Kia have established themselves and become a reliable brand. Anyone interested in a G70, especially the 3.3T, I think is at least somewhat of a car person or someone who did at least a little bit of research and realizes it's a generally reliable vehicle and that the only downside is the dealership experience in most areas. What I think some people are still hung up on, is simply the name tag their car wears as opposed to which one they actually think is more reliable.

When I was looking to buy last year, all I was told was, don't buy that car, it's gonna fall apart. In terms of engine reliability they're great, but seem to have issues in other areas. If anything, they're more reliable than a German car and theoretically less expensive to work on. I wouks rather take my chances with the G70 than a BMW and be without a warranty in 4 years paying out of pocket for everything

The strength of this vehicle is definitely in the styling both interior and exterior. I like what you did with the door handles. And yes a ceramic tint is a must for any vehicle like this.
@HammysShowcase

Thanks! Big Selling point for me with this car was the styling, nothing else looks like it, and the interior is just drop dead beautiful. I was at a car show today looking at a Bentley, i saw alot of similarities and design cues taken from the Bentley and put in this car. Not sayin it is a Bentley lol, but was neat to see how similar the design aspects of this car was to a $100k Bentley. As i stated in the video, Genesis has Bentley designers working for them, so there is for sure some crossover there.

I'm still rockin with my 2019 G70 3.3t AWD prestige. People have asked is it a Bentley lol. My headlights rotate left and right when turning corners when I drove a 22/23 when my car was getting serviced I noticed they stopped using those headlights for whatever reason. Mine has been reliable. The inside is still nice and tight. I've replaced the tires and the brembos are still good but will need changing here soon. Overall it's been a great daily driver. Looks good out on the town and can gap idiots pulling up looking for a quick race lol

I suspect at some point down the line that there will be a Magma variant of the G70 that's actually more performance-oriented. Of course, I don't know what the sales numbers of the G70 are and thus I don't know if it's been selling well. But if the sales are solid, I can see there being a G70 Magma. I can just imagine what the G70 would look like in that bright orange paint job. It would look sick. Edit: I didn't know you were gonna talk about Genesis Magma in this video so my inquiry is hopefully correct. xD

Haha, yeah I definitely hope they make a Magma G70. Been seeing some rumors it will be discontinued after 2025, but then again they were saying it was gonna be discontinued a few years ago, so we'll see. If they make a Magma G70, I think that would open this car up to a whole nre market of buyers who wouldn't be interested in the normal G70

Yep, still have it. Don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. Great luxury sports sedan. Only reason I would not reccomend it is for someone who likes to do alot of aftermarket mods, there just isn't a big platform for this car, and the exhaust options are extremely limited if you're wanting a good sound from this car.

I’m taking mine into the dealership to get fixed. Passenger front sensor you can visibly see was mounted improperly. Seems to sometimes hit the bumper or when it gets wet pick up rouge signals off the bumper. Hopefully they fix under warranty. Could be a manufacturer quality control issue of poor sensor mounting.

Genesis''s problems isn't with reliability. The G70 is the most reliable in the segment behind the Lexus IS. The problem is with the awful and incompetent service given at most Hyundai dealerships. They're not trained nor have the interest in servicing Genesis vehicles.
@HammysShowcase
@HammysShowcase Ай бұрын
Hyundai dealerships don't service Genesis cars anymore. Since Genesis has officially separated (like lexus and Toyota) you cannot have your genesis serviced at a Hyundai dealership. They will do oil changes and tires rototations, but for anything warranty related they won't do it.

Can you put the stinger exhaust on the G70?
@HammysShowcase
@HammysShowcase Ай бұрын
With a custom weld, yes. I assume you mean an aftermarket exhaust for the Stinger. You could buy the MBRP exhaust for the Stinger which is like $1000. Then you'd have to pay a welder another $500 likely to bend all the pipes and fit it to the G70. It can be done, just would be expensive and require a skilled installer

make your own custom exhaust. get secondary downpipes and valvetronics universal mufflers
@HammysShowcase
@HammysShowcase 22 күн бұрын
I've looked at those valvetronic mufflers. My only holdback with them is that you gotta wire a cord into your car in order to activate the valved exhaust, which I'm afraid might void electrical warranty. The car already has a valved exhaust so I'm wondering if the valvetronic wound be compatible with what is already on the car.

Heads up as second owner you don’t get 10 year 100k from Hyundai. It drops to Powertrain Warranty: 10 years or 100,000 miles, then five years or 60,000 miles if the vehicle is no longer with the original owner. I wonder if you’re considered a second owner? You may want to look into it.

So the one I bought was owned by the dealership, it was their company vehicle, not a rental, but a car for their chauffeurs to drive people in. So technically it was pre-owned and was listed as CPO. Because it was CPO, I got a 6 year bumper to bumper and the remainder of the 10 year 100k powertrain warranty (which was the full 10 years), the dealership only had the car 4 months so I only lost 4 months on the warranty and gained a year on thr bumper to bumper. With CPO, they actually give you a extra year on the bumper to bumper. So overall, it is a better deal to buy one CPO not only because the car is significantly cheaper, but you still get the full warranty, at least in my case

He went with 18X8 ENKEI TUNING TMS GLS BLACK squared at 45.4 pound a corner huge difference just with wheels. With 60 and 57 with the tire and wheel together, either the tire is 35-33 pounds or the rims.

If I could have gotten the IS500 F for this same price I would gone for it. However, to option out the IS500 with all the bells and whistles of the G70, you're looking at $70k. Considering I paid $45k for my G70 fully loaded CPO, that's a massive price difference. Used IS500s are still selling for well over $60k and that's just with the base package, nothing fancy. The two cars are honestly in totally different ball parks

Thinking about trading my Veloster N for the G70 sport prestige. I absolutely love my VN performance and sound but after owning it for a few years the very stiff ride is wearing thin lol. But I might just hold out for an Audi RS3 but it’s considerably more expensive.
@HammysShowcase
@HammysShowcase 23 күн бұрын
Yea the G70 would be a totally different drive experience from the Veloster. I also considered the RS when I bought mine. The RS3 last year was $58k for the base model (same price as the G70 fully loaded. But now the RS3 is over $60k for the base model. Just all depends if performance and driving experience is more important than getting all the bells and whistles. My one regret with the G70 is that it is too much of a refined quiet car. I would much rather something along the lines of the RS3 or like the Supra with a Dinan exhaust. The bells and whistles on the G70 are nice, but just all depends which is more important
