Hi I am 33 years and I have 9 years of post MBA(Indian MBA from a premier b school) experience in the areas of corporate banking and project finance in India and Gulf region. I am looking to migrate to Europe or US and currently preparing for GMAT. Which one do you recommend? One year or 2 year programme? Europe or US? Any suggested college/university? Thanks

I have completed my MBA in 2010 from a very mediocre college in Bangalore. After that, i have been working and now have 10 years experience. Please suggest if I should give GMAT and try to get into a tier 1 kind of college to do MBA again or I should pursue some other course. My previous MBA specialization is HR+ Marketing and I have been working in HR industry

Good day sir, Firstly, very nice explanation on #1year vs #2 year MBA and thank you for clearing the idea behind it. I just have one query, you said for #2 year MBA summer internship programs are there where you can build networks. How these summer internships come into play e.g. companies hire students from colleges for internship or you have to look out for internship by yourselves like wise for the job placement. Thanking you in advance on your valuable feedback on above query.

Europe also have a 2 year MBA program , and they are good too , what do you think ?
@Wizako4 жыл бұрын
Hello @ayush Yes there are a few 2 year MBA programs in Europe. But the flagship programs for top European B schools tend to be 1 year programs.

Hello Sir, Thank You for your insight. It was very helpful. I have a question- what if someone is planning to opt for Sabbatical from existing job in MNC. What advice would you want to give regarding choosing one year or two year programme?
@Wizako3 жыл бұрын
If you have 5+ years of experience and you plan to come back to your organization, I will recommend 1-year MBA. Either in India or in Europe depending on whether an international MBA will add more value in your present establishment. Simple reason - you save a year. Because, you will be coming back to your organization, networking to get a job is not high on your agenda. So, 1-year will be a very good bet.

Is great lakes pgpm 1yr program good?
@Wizako2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pushkar, Yes, it's definitely a good program for experienced professionals in the analytics sector. Would also recommend you to have a bunch of other colleges in your target list that have 1 yr MBA programs - IIM ABC, SPJIMR, ISB, etc. as far as the Indian region is concerned.

Hello Im a Short Service Commission Officer in Indian Navy and am planning to crack GMAT. I will be leaving defence after gaining 10yrs of experience. Want your views about what should i do...1yr or 2 yr mba course? Talking abt network connection outside India...I dnt have....Need some guidance Regards
@Wizako4 жыл бұрын
Hello Mr Ravi One of our students was a Major in the Indian Army with similar experience. He took the GMAT and joined a 2-year program in a top US B school. In my opinion, the school matters more than the duration. If you are looking at European schools, one year is the most popular option. If it is the USA, the flagship programs of schools in the USA are 2-year program. When you are probably 9 to 12 months away from the time of leaving the services, start your GMAT preparation. You will have your score before you leave the services. The score will give a good indication of the programs that you can target. Best wishes

For 2 years of work ex should I go for 1 year or 2???
@Wizako Жыл бұрын
Definitely go for a 2-year program, especially if you are planning to study outside India. Couple of reasons. 1. The 2-year program allows you to learn a lot more. The assumption that the one-year program makes is that you probably know some of that already, given your time working. However, for most people two years is not enough to build the skills needed for a one-year program. This is why most one-year programs require 4-5 years of experience. 2. In places like the USA, the two-year program allows you to intern and thus network to find a full-time role. Harder to convince a company to sponsor your work visa without proving your capabilities. Of course, the exceptions are the one-year MBA programs designed for people with just around 2 years of work ex, such as program in Europe and at ISB.

Thank you Bhaskar sir one more question do companies prefer freshers over experienced during placement offers in terms of package and position
@Wizako Жыл бұрын
They prefer those with at least some experience - it would mean that people already know how the corporate world works and are able to better adapt to the needs of the business world. It also means that the skills you have developed are not just purely academic in nature.

MBA without experience is it good in abroad?
@rajsadhan49055 жыл бұрын
Mostly that's not a good idea as far as I know. However, you need to do your research than relying on other's opinions. All the good luck.
@Wizako5 жыл бұрын
I will recommend going for MiM or MS in Management program instead of doing an MBA as fresher. Top schools do not normally admit freshers to their MBA program. So, you are likely to do an MBA from a not highly ranked school. Where you do your MBA matters a great deal in the MBA helping you make progress in your career.

Sir, I'm doing my B.Sc in geology. Is it possible for me to take 1 year MBA program in Europe among the top B-schools?
@Wizako4 жыл бұрын
Yes certainly possible - from an academic qualification perspective. However, please keep in mind, top business schools in Europe will require an applicant to have over 4 years of professional experience. So, you may not be able to do an MBA immediately after your BSc in Geology. You could check out the MiM programs from some of the leading business schools in Europe including London Business School. You will be able to enrol for the MiM program without any professional experience. Cheers.

Sir I have a question I have completed my graduation this year and preparing for gmat and will give it my end of this year ! Gmat is valid for 5 years ...so should I work for 3 years and then go for an MBA or should I go for a Masters without experience. Just because GMAT is valid got 5 years it gives me the flexibility to work and then apply for an MBA.
@Wizako Жыл бұрын
Working for a few years and then going for your MBA is a sound plan. Definitely write the GMAT now, while you have the time to do justice to your preparation and consider waiting for the Focus edition and writing the GMAT by end of this year or early next year. While there are several wonderful MiM programs, if you have the ability to wait and do an MBA, you might find that your learning during the program is enhanced by your exposure to the workings of the corporate world.
