In January 2020 I made the commitment to grow my hair mid back length. I’ve always wanted to do this. I actually tried once and caved in. But not this time!

My hair reduced falling out after I did a few things. I used homemade hair masks like avocado and yogurt. I avoided brushing my hair when it was wet to prevent it from breaking. Once a week, I rubbed my scalp with hair oil. I cleansed my hair 1-2 times a week with liitlextraa cocoonnnion shampoo.
@kuldeepddlj2064
@kuldeepddlj2064 Ай бұрын
I am using Liitlleextra Cocoonioon shampoo for 5 months now and have used 3 bottles so far. Pros: 1. The shampoo feels natural. 2. Hair feels good after wash, particularly if you skip the hair oil. 3. Yes, hair fall has reduced a lot gradually. 4. The scalp feels clean and it’s effective against dandruff. Cons: 1. It doesn’t lather much, which means you might need to use a bit more. 2. When I apply a lot of oil, I find my hair still sticky after the wash, and a little oil can still be felt.

This video gives me hope. I grew my hair out about 15 years ago, but it looked awful. I’m not ashamed to say I have wanted to try again since seeing Bradley Cooper’s hair in a Star is Born. I’ve tried, during lockdown etc, but always end up giving up during the awkward stage. My hair looks to be a different similar type and texture to yours, and what puts me off is always the poof in the beginning and the Afro. I’m now probably at where you were in September 2020, so knowing my hair type can look good gives me confidence to keep going another few years!

@@The_Jedi i don’t really know how old is the top part of my hair but it’s about 2 years old and the sides and the back is around 1 year and 4 months. In 2019, I was growing my hair out and I was wearing hats basically 24/7 but ended up having an undercut ( not too short and just the sides and the back) then I was growing it out again and then in January 2020 I had a short undercut, left the top part and since then I’ve been growing out my hair thanks to the pandemic and well, I really wanted to grow my hair and now I can tie it and it’s really cool but my hair is oily as hell, so I have to wear shampoos for oily hair and the hair cream is really nice I just tried it this week and wow it’s amazing. Just keep growing your hair out, it does worth it. 😉

Actually, growing out a curly hair faces a long period of awkward stages and even after 11 months, I thought my hair was still in that stage. As an asian with thicker and curly hair, I really don't recommend people with similar hair conditions to grow it out. It was extremely uncomfortable as well.

It will be 3 years this June since my last cut which was a #5. I have thick straight hair. It’s time consuming and costly to keep it looking healthy and hydrated. A lot of conditioners, hair masks, leave in products etc. I’m all over the web “long hair vs short hair”. Looking for reasons not to cut it but I think it’s time to hit the reset button. Could always try it again in the future.

@The_Jedi
@The_Jedi 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah man check out my other videos; I think they’ll be super helpful for you. But as far as tangling it’s going to be a combo of hair health, washing practices and leave in product. I have videos addressing all of these topics. My hair can get really curly and frizzy at times and I don’t really ever deal with that issue due to the things I’ve mentioned. But just to throw a tip out is coconut oil, it helps me a lot.

You're a handsome guy and looked good with short hair. That said, nice long hair on a man is awesome! I'm with you on the journey. It takes about 2 years to have long hair. My advice is not to get trims. Hair grown about half an inch per month. You trim off half an inch and you have an additional month to reach your goal. Once you have good length, then consider some strategic trims. You're going to look awesome as a long-haired man.
@The_Jedi
@The_Jedi 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks RJ for the comment. Yeah I hear you, I debated all year about the trims. Up until a month ago I always said I wasn’t going to get any until it got long like you said. I asked so many people about their opinion on it and it was 50/50 split. What did me in is the bottom inch of my hair was splitting and getting so frizzy and tangled when it would dry. So I caved in. It’s going to be fun! Glad to hear you’re on the ride too

@@The_Jedi my suggestion is more conditioning rather than trims...I do understand but it's not logical to cut hair (that grows so slowly) when you want it longer. But whatever, I'm with you.

I trim at a local hair salon here where I live. Always be sure you get a good experienced stylist. Not a basic one at your local general hair cutting place. You need advice and direction for your type hair and they can help. Be sure you tell them you’re growing it out and you just want to trim dead ends. As it gets really long you can have them add layers

So you didn't have any setup cuts or maintenance cuts? Cause from what I saw, there are two schools - don't cut at all or cut some hair every 2 months. And I'm thinking what to do with my hair.
@The_Jedi
@The_Jedi 4 ай бұрын
The first year I went a whole year before cutting it for no other reason than just because I wanted to. Then next year I waited 4 months to try that. Then next I did 6 months later then I did 8 months later. In conclusion it’s healthy to get trims but as to how often, it depends on your hair type and hair health. I found that watching it and waiting until it became knotted easily, split ends, etc you can tell when it’s looking rough - then I would get a trim. This also promoted healthy growth, your hair would only get worse otherwise especially with split ends. 4 months was to frequent, 1 year was to long for mine. I think the 8 month range was my sweet spot.

If your top being longer is what you mean then that’s actually good. Having the top longer than the sides first is a great start. The top takes longer to catch up to the sides

You always had more on the top then the sides and back , how’d it lengthen to the all around?

Super video. Prends tu des compléments alimentaires pour cheveux? Ou prends tu des huiles végétales? Bises de France.

Hey quick question - did you start out with the shaved sides and longer hair length on top? I have that exact same cut at the moment.. or did you even it all out to the same length at some point in the first year? Thinking about growing it all out over 6 months (not a year!) and I think we have the same hair type for sure (very thick and wavy!). I've never committed to the process, but I think the 6 month mark on your video is exactly what I'm aiming for. Thanks man.

I have a similar hair type & have been growing mine out for about 1.5 years. I recommend growing the top out 2-3 inches before letting the rest of it grow. It helps with the awkward stage and prevents your head from looking wide when the sides start to grow out.
