I got a ton of feeder guppies awhile ago and had a ton of mutations, its extremely fun to see what different colors pop up overtime and just being able to create an environment that can bear life is the greatest feeling, and I may get more into fish breeding as a whole bc of it esp w endlers guppies and other livebearers My apistogrammas bred recently and Im looking after the fry and I feel an indescribable sense of pride bc of it

If your water hard, and you top up with tap water can be problematic. The minerals concentrate and the water get superhard :DD Anyway, this is a great hobby, I also got my 80 gal tank for free, but even tho I spend a ton of money on it xD Even the substrate is cheapest as possible (dirted) but the sand costed a lil bit too much (about 100 kg) :P I hope you breeding project will go well!

I just had my first endler fry, I'm not sure if Momma died or is in hiding and still birthing? I've had an injured dog so not been able to spend as much time with my tanks. I separated the adult male and the 5 ember tetra that were in the tank. Hope momma shows back up. There's also one panda cory(yes I know!)this tank has been on the verge of getting torn down as it was set up for Betta, but non survive on it, set up the same as all my other betta tanks so really frustrated with this, as anything else does fine in it. So random.

I have gotta question to ask, I have tank with plants and no fish, 2 years old, I reared damselfly and dragonfly larvae, I didn't changed water for those years, and now I want betta fish, should I change water and put filter in it, or should I leave it as it is? Because odonate(dragonfly and damsefly) larvae need very clean water to survive, and if they were successful in completing their lifecycle, then water should be clean, I am confused so any ideas?

How many males and females did you start with? I started a small endler tank at new year, 3 females with 1 male and another 3 males in another tank to be swapped in monthly. Unfortunately the 3 females have passed already but hopefully some of the fry will make it to adulthood. No idea who has what dad though

If you have the right live plant to fish ratio and your tank is established then you do not need to do water changes ever. Only add water. I have 3 tanks, a 65 with 2 Pearl garami, 2 zebra loach, 2 emerald cory, 2 flower shrimp, and 7 ottos. A 75 with 8 Congo tetra, a gold ram, a spotted gara, three hog chokers and 4 farlewella. And a 25 with 2 peppered cory, a gold mystery snail, a beta, and a ton of cherry shrimp that are always breeding. I haven’t changed my water in any of them for over a year now. Everyone is happy and healthy, I’ve even noticed that the no water change method cuts you way back on needing to feed because organisms the fish eat just start to grow in the tank.
@jenpink4298
@jenpink4298 Жыл бұрын
I don’t understand why the whole water change thing has suddenly become such a big deal. Test your water. If the parameters are off, do a water change. If everything looks good, don’t worry about it for another week or so until you get an idea of how your tank runs on a regular basis.

Why you should let young males and females grow up separately. You can separate young guppies 2 weeks after birth: the females already have a dark spot on their belly that pregnant females also have. If you do not separate the sexes, males can fertilize females at a very young age. And once they mature, the females will immediately become pregnant. And then you get a huge bulge. Then suddenly you are a millionaire... Millions of guppies... Females that grow up virginally for five months grow larger and have more young per female, if you let them be mated by the male you want young from
