You are already at the fastest Gear, you have the largest front sprocket with the smallest rear, that's top gear on the geared Radrunner Plus. The plus only allows you to provide more torque on hills by going to a lower gear, larger rear sprocket, that yields a lower gear.

Nice video ! I'm the lucky owner of a mini since a month with already 500 km, and I LOVE it ! My grifriend has the rad runner plus and she is also delighted. The brakes on both bike needs constant adjustment which a bit boring, but otherwise it's a beast ! I often pedal in PAs 1 or 2, sometimes even in 0 when going slow in the forest and don't want to hear the motor. Btw, if you have the screen controller (like on mini and plus) you can unlock the 25kmh restriction easily in a hidden menu. I've set mine at 32 kmh and it feels so great !! It's also amazin has you dont loose speed after goin downhill ! Have fun and be safe !

Good review John. Copenhagen looks a far safer to cycle around than London... I would say seat is an essential upgrade. The stock seat is uncomfortable and you can drop tyre pressures to compensate. Flat tyres seem to be a common issue for RadRunner owners. I have just repaired my second puncture in 2 months (both on rear). I found you can use motorcycle inner tubes which are thicker. e.g. MICHELIN Junior Motocross / MX 90/100/16 BW Also I have started using tyre sealant such as Stans Tubeless Sealant.

Hey John! Any updates on your Radrunner? I am planning on buying one and I really care about the longevity of the bike. So it must be 2,5-3 years of use now? How is the bike in cold weather? How does it hold up in terms of rust, battery aging, wear and tear etc? Do you have it parked outside (also in winter)? How is your eggrider aging? Sorry for all the questions. But i can't really find any information on this.
@BornToGetBusy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, its been 2.5 years with a lot of riding. So far the bike is holding up great. I usually park it in a shed over night and at work but it has been caught outside on a several occasions and I've also ridden it when raining. In terms of wear and tear, there's not much to report. Besides normal maintenance such as changing break pads, grease/oil etc. it's holding up great. The spring for the kick-stand did break a few months ago but was replaced by Rad as part of the warrantee. There is no rust to speak of except a bit on the kickstand. Since I live in quite cold climate I guess the battery has degraded to about 60-70% of its original capacity. This winter I didn't bother to bring the battery inside everyday but left it on the bike in the shed overnight and charged it there even though it was freezing. Not optimal for the battery I know. So I guess 60-70% is not that bad. Note that it is still cold here so that might increase once its starts to get warmer. I now have to charge the battery at work when before I could wait to charge till I returned home. It's a 27 km round-trip and I have around 15-20% left when I get home. If I didn't charge at work I would run out of juice close to home. I always ride at max 5 pedal assist so I could just lower that but then what's the point? :D I was getting fed up with flat tires but after installing Tannus Armour in the tires I haven't gotten a single flat tire. I will post a video of those and the installation soon. The Eggrider is doing fine. Still like new. No issues. It says I've ridden almost 2000 km on it.
@MarketingGuy2 жыл бұрын
@@BornToGetBusy Thanks a lot for the detailed reply! I also planned to park it outside under a roofed bikestand. But I would always take the battery inside ;) In winter it gets about 10 degrees colder here. I thought of buying the Tannus Armour with my bike. But I am a bit worried if the tires would get even heavier, and the handling would change to the worse. Great to hear that the eggrider hold up well. The original radrunner display looked a bit skuffed in your eggrider video.
@BornToGetBusy2 жыл бұрын
@@MarketingGuy Well, in my experience there has been nothing but upside to getting the Tannus Armour. Can't really feel any change to handling. I did change to 20x4 tires so they are significantly bigger than the original that came with the bike. I much preferred the look of the original but 20x4 is just more common and it gives a speed increase as well due to their larger diameter. The bike itself is also so heavy that the weight of the Tannus Armour is super negligible. It's just a bit of foam. Yeah, the display was indeed a bit skuffed but that is just due to me trying to fit the bike in trunks of cars whenever I got a flat far away from home and it got a bit banged up. But thats all stopped since getting the armour for the tires :)

Hi I’m looking at the UK version and just want to know if you can still ride the bike without having to pedal all the time? I can’t seem to find if this is a US version feature only or if all the Rad Bikes offer this. I don’t want to buy the bike if I have to pedal 100% of the time. Sometimes I may want to sit back and let the bike do the work for me. Can you clarify this does or doesn’t offer this please? Thanks
@BornToGetBusy Жыл бұрын
I assume the UK version is the same as EU. In that case, you can't ride without pedalling all the time, except if you install the Eggrider. This allows you to sit back and use the throttle to full speed. Technically this is not legal as this makes the bike more like a moped. In stock the throttle is capped at 5 km/h. Check out my video on the Eggrider to see more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6a6gpymgtenaqssi=JyF79_xmI7mxGPVs

@@co5taP Well, I still think it's a good bike. As for the features, that's just the rules here. You won't find another e-bike which is much different unless you look at speed pedelecs. Though I think none allow you to ride without pedalling. As mentioned that's basically a moped. And they'll stop selling Rad bikes in Europe soon. The Eggrider is a great upgrade and plug play. @BornToGetBusy Жыл бұрын
@Chris Grabowski Actually, I never tried the RR Plus. But before installing the Eggrider, I did miss gears. Since getting the Eggrider, I dont really miss it, except when running out of battery as the bike is really heavy. Almost impossible to bike without pedal assist from the motor. Also you can't get up to really high speeds, like downhill without gears but then again the bike is so big and heavy I wouldn't recommend it anyways. If you plan on ridding with someone on the back seat I would probably recommend to get the normal RR and get the Eggrider. The Eggrider makes getting up to speed from stand still a lot easier/faster than you ever could with gears alone, e.g. starting from a stop sign/light crossing and the added torque when going uphill is a huge benefit of the Eggrider. WIth someone on the backseat, I imagine going uphill would be really slow without the Eggrider. It was for me even without anyone on the back. As you said, there is also less maintenance and there are definite benefits to a simple system. Since getting the RR 3 years ago, I haven't had any mechanical issues whatsoever, except the bike stand spring breaking (I received a new one under waranty). I guess the suspension is a benefit of the RR Plus. I did miss that in the begining but adding a seat pole with suspension did help a lot to make the ride more comfortable.

Hey im really deciding on buying the radmini, which has gears, do u think im able to go above 25km/h without the motor? Im also living in the eu, those regulation suck. And i want to use it manly to go to the uni, without sweating, is that possible with a bike like that? Because on my regular bike im always sweating a bit.
@BornToGetBusy4 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry for the late reply. I'm not sure about the Radmini but for the Radrunner, I never get a sweat when riding it as long as the motor is running to assist with peddaling. I bike 15km to work and arrive without a sweat. However, it's so heavy that it's basically impossible to ride without pedal assist so running out of battery on the road sucks bigtime. I guess with gears you could go above 25km/h but it will likely take some effort depending on how heavy the bike is or if you have the motor help you to 25km/h before it cuts off.
