So nice to see little techniques developing over time. Strumming, vibrato, trill picking, hammer ons and pull offs, alternate picking, and finally string skipping chordwork. Well done!

I've shallow-dived into a lot of instruments, but I'm not yet brave enough to go "fretless", string or otherwise. Despite my absolute lack of experience, this seems like a _lot_ of progress for a year. It's wonderful.

fretless is annoying at first, but you get used to it way quicker than you think you would. also, if you need them, you can get "tape" to mark where the notes are on the neck, then remove them once you've got the muscle memory down
@mohammed.s.abusenjer6821
@mohammed.s.abusenjer6821 Жыл бұрын
It requires huge muscle memory improvement during the learning process, despite calling it "huge", the results will come out quicker than you think, looking that you're already play other instruments and familiar with sounds and intervals, good luck!

Fretless is not really that hard. Im learning piano after 3 years of oud with basic music theory and a good ear. That feels as hard as when i began learning the oud.

So you’ve never played a stringed instrument before? That makes it reaaally impressive how fast you progressed. You playing the major scales that steadily after just months made me have to rewind. Also, this instrument is it supposed to be like that or did you pick up a right handed and use it lefty upside down? Like for example eric gales does on electric guitar.

@@rahmaali7030 How did I learn or are you asking Pedrou? I personally starting taking a lesson once or twice a month if I could afford it. Also, I bought some books. The book series "The Mukhtar Meathod by Ahmed Mukhtar", I bought the first three, and the Arabic Music Theory book he offers. The tricky part for his book is that he using Fa-fa tuning and my oud is tunned for do-do tunning. As I prefer the sound and it's a more common tuning for the region or style I would like to learn. And so I just decided rather then trying to use tabs I would teach myself how to read music, which is how I got around the confusion in regards to that. Another book I recommend is "The Maqam Book, A Doorway to Arba Scales and Modes" by David Muallem. A lot of it's over my head because I have no musical training what-so-ever, but, I try reading one to two pages a day.

Very nice very good progress, as a professional musician, after a successful 1 year i advise you to learn more about the origin and the usage of this instrument (that of course if you want to carry on with the progress) this will make you more attached to its heritage and will open various techniques and phrases because this is a voice instrument, and i also advise to watch the some experts (arabic preferably) and look for details like including bass over melody more how it collaborates voicing in a set or orchestra, how to sit and hold the oud, how to correct pluckings etc. I hope i can help with this comment, cheers 😊

I heard some beautiful street music yesterday as I strolled around in Copenhagen. I was drawn as though in a trance towards its source. An older man looking as if from middle eastern origin, was sitting on a stool, playing these beautiful scales on an electric guitar. I have now started practising these sounds on my old acoustic 6 string guitar. Hope I can pursue this new goal I've set myself, which is to play to a level that which satisfies myself personally. Love this music.
