Just what I needed! I've played the 5 string banjo for awhile. This helped me alot! Especially as far as how to position it and myself as it is so different from my small but heavy resonator banjo.

Hi Yves, My oud is made by a wonderful Tunisian maker name Abdel Hamid el Hadad. to be honest i don;t know how to reach him. I was luckey to have this oud by my teacher Nizar Rohana

Hello. I have a question regarding the tuning. Do you tune in 440 or 415 Htz? Since the oud is an ancient instrument I'd assume the more traditional tuning would be 415, since gut strings can't withstand the tension of 440 tuning. Thanks.

Try practice slow and stable speed. The places you sucseed well play as slow as the places you dont manege yet. Also do only down strokes at first. Most impoetant. Enjoy it.

Hi Mina, well yes, you will need more patience and attention to the notes but, as i teach many people who came from guitar background. I can tell that the ones who have the best soud are the ones who skip the guitar or put it aside for the first year with the oud. anyhow, good luck. most important is love and passion for playing good music.

Yes, since jewish communities were part of the cultures of the Arab countries they lived in, the oud was and still is a part of the music tradition.
