Great review. Thank you for the feedback. FYI - You can make your own ruler. Buy a piece of 2020 and engrave a ruler on it. Duplicate it for the other axis. I did this on my ShopSabre CNC and it works great. I even use it as a surface to locate my work against.

I've got an old Gweike 1200x 800 80watt that i completely rewired with a new Ruida controller. Just got into the rotary side if things. About the only thing id do now is upgrade the upgraded controller with a 4th axis just for the rotary. Love playing around with my old girl owes me nothing and as you said matt 6 thunders to one epilog, its a no brainer if you're pumping out the product. From Australia.

Hey Matt, great review. Although I am biased lol Really enjoying my Nova 51/100 which I got a month ago now. It has taken a lot of time to get to grips with settings for the different materials I hope to make things out of, but now that I have a much clearer idea of those settings now I just need the inspiration of what to make and try and sell! I guess I will just have to get stuff on my social media pages and see what people like. I do really like the idea of engraving mirrors (reverse side) with personal things like wedding guest lists, favourite sports teams or special occassions etc. Also been playing with leather for bookmarks. I am sure I'll find my niche yet! Thanks for the video. 😁

The biggest thing for me about Thunder is the machines come with all of the necessary components to run. Chiller, air assist, software, exhaust system, and even setup and training support and on top of that the taxes & shipping are baked into the price you see on the website and get on your quote. The only addons are actual addons, stuff to improve UX or add optional capabilities. I really think they need to do a better job of advertising that. I'm shopping right now and was cross shopping with Boss machines and I'm thinking Thunder is basically priced a tier higher across the board. In reality, because most other brands advertise a price that NEEDS additional items, doesn't include shipping, and doesn't include taxes what you thought was a higher priced machine actually ends up being cheaper and a better value. If you've only tangentially looked at thunder and thought they were overpriced compared to the other mid range competition, please look again and schedule a call with sales and have them write you a quote. I can't speak to the actual machine yet, but everyone I see online who has one seems to love it and so far my shopping experience with them has been great. Trying to secure funding for a nova 35 now, hopefully I can pull the trigger soon!

That is great review! Hard to think that this is just a little more than Glow Forge and twice as powerful and it uses lightburn. Based on where your home spot is, couldn’t you make a small fence outside the cut area to use your jigs?

I see your system to take all the exhaust out of your garage. Does it actually keep all the smell out when you are cutting/engraving or do yours still smell it when you are working with your thunder machine? I currently have a Mira 9 and it vents directly out of our garage with no fan, and Everytime we cut you can smell the acrylic pretty easily or wood. Just wondering if the fan really helps with full removing a lot of the smell.
@laserengravingwithmatt Жыл бұрын
It has no smell whatsoever. It works great. I used it in the basement in the house and never had a smell.

Do you have issues with the temperature? I’m in Oklahoma and it gets freezing at times in the winter if you’ve encountered that what do you do?
@laserengravingwithmatt Жыл бұрын
My garage is heated. I keep it at 70. I haven’t had any issues it being out there.
@montanatempel9788 Жыл бұрын
Oh ok so it’s been finished awesome! Okie dokie so I guess I’d need to just get it climate controlled then or opt for the p2 for indoors. Would you say going with a p2 is fair for a beginner versus jumping straight into a thunder etc. or if you have the credit or funds to get a bigger 100ish watt like thunder would you suggest that?
@laserengravingwithmatt Жыл бұрын
If you have the funds I would go with thunder if not the p2 is good. You can do more with the thunder because of how big it is.

Fortunately Thunder sends tubes that are more powerful than they are rated and then they under clock the software so 100% = 100 watts. Brian talked about it in a couple of there weekly webinar on KZbin. You can run the Thunder at 100% without damaging the tube. It's hard on the power supply. I've replaced two....one at about 11 months and a second at about 18 months. I consider that a consumables part. Just like the tube, mirrors and lenses they eventually need replaced. No big deal really because the Thunder is a money printing tool.

I can't agree with this review more. Fortunately I got mad at Omtech and and ordered a Thunder Laser USA 35-100 as my first laser. I bought it because I had a contract to cut acrylic for PwnCNC the day I got it set-up which took less than 4hrs from the time it arrived until I was cutting. Since then I have cut THOUSANDS of parts. Plus when I'm not using it my wife makes crafts to sell at local festivals. It's a amazing piece of equipment and worth every penny.
