Hi Gord, Thanks again for a great runthrough on your machine. The cuts look pretty amazing. I hope I have the same successes at my 6 month mark.😅. Just did a test card on my 80w Omtech. It caused some anxiety not knowing what to expect, but watching others like yourself is such a great resource and brings a level of comfort and self confidence, THANK YOU for that! I did a small test card and didn't catch on fire, but came close...ready to hit the big Red button with Fire extinguisher at ready. Yeah, never know eh. Anyways all was good and cautiously moving forward.😊 Thanks again for your very clear talk through. You must have been a teacher. Andrew

I just stumbled onto your channel. I am looking at getting a Thunder Bolt. You have helped me make the decision to get one. The tips you shared are awesome. I would have been lost wondering why its not working in the lower right area. Never occurred to me it would be the distance. If I was getting one I would get the extra lenses just incase. Thank you

One thing that I was pointed to and what I’ve started doing for acrylic is putting a thin layer of liquid dish soap on the acrylic. It captures the engraving residue and protects the edges during cutting.

I’m glad I made the right choice when purchased my Bolt. Your videos have been very helpful. I think our machines may have been shipped together because I got mine at the same time. I’ve been using my camera since day one and I couldn’t imagine not using it. I do need to purchase more lenses. I let my daughter clean them because I have butter fingers!😂 The mirror alignment looks a little confusing but I will figure it out. The 3M adhesive is my favorite but you’re right, you have one chance to get it right.

I’m thrilled to see you’re still happy with your Bolt! I’m looking for my first CO2 that will not be used for a business, it will be used for hobby and fun, to make gifts for friends and family. Do you think the standard Bolt is the way to go, and the Bolt Plus may be overkill? I guess the money saved could be put towards a rotary and maybe an additional lens. I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks!

one of my favorite things on the bolt is that if you send a file across with the wrong settings you can just go back into the file on the touch screen and change the speed or power and then run it again, you don't need to resend a whole new file! great video also love your work!

Hi. Another great video with very useful information. I know there are videos regarding cleaning and upkeep for the Bolt, but I was wondering if you might put together a video on your cleaning routine? I relate to how you approach things with your videos so a maintenance video done by you would be right up my alley. I am still in the early stages of becoming familiar with the Bolt but so far I love it.

Good morning, Gord. Well that means that I, too, am getting old because I’ve watched every one of your videos. I watched most of them before my Bolt arrived. I will watch #024 again. Thanks for pointing that out. Of course I should probably rewatch all of them!!! I appreciate your follow up kind sir.

Does the camera stay in alignment? I don’t have a Thunder but I have the lightburn camera and it keeps getting more out of alignment as time goes by
@LaserNUG2 ай бұрын
Hey good morning - sorry for the late reply. The only thing so far is the lens becomes unfocused. It may be because I always put the cover on it when not using it, and perhaps when i pull it off i might accidentally move the focus ring on it. So i just refocus it and test it before using it - only happened once so far but I don't want to leave the lens exposed all the time uncovered. Cheers!

My only "concern" with the Bolt is cutting 1/4" (6mm) wood, it seems like you're pretty limited to 8mm/sec for 1-pass cutting w/ 2.0" lens (according to the Thunder Laser channel's recent cut test). What are your experiences with cutting 1/4" wood?
@LaserNUG9 ай бұрын
Good morning - I have only cut 1/4" baltic Birch, Maple and Cherry plywood (top grade). I need to use the 2.5" lens to cut it - if I cut in the lower right hand side, I need to cut it twice but elsewhere it will usually get through clean with 1 pass. It does provide a clean cut but i do clean the black off the cut afterwards. I can't see my settings from where I am but it is at a low speed ( 5- 8 mm sounds right) and probably 90% power, I think. Hope that helps.

Do the mirrors go out of alignment!?
@LaserNUGАй бұрын
Morning Steven. Good question. no, not on their own, so to speak. mine needed alignment but I believe it is because I move it regularly to clean out the exhaust fan and my floor is very bumpy so I think repeated jarring of the machine can possibly cause them to move - they have thumbs screws holding them in place but I imagine that was what caused it. Hope that helps.

Remember crosshatching on a gantry type laser is Not Recommended per Thunder Laser
@LaserNUG9 ай бұрын
Hey thanks Robert - I was not aware of that - did they tell you why? Thanks
@computercreationz9 ай бұрын
Gantry lasers are engineered for rapid x motion not rapid y motion. Assuming you’re engraving a flat surface. Using a rotary is a different story.

Question: What made you go with this rotary tool opposed to the one Thunder offers?
@01f4irider4 ай бұрын
I'd like an answer to this question as well. My guess is that the one he went with is a chuck style rotary.

be careful with the plastic film, some of it is toxic, bad for you and the equipment, needs to be taken off and use masking
