@@joshbendorf7361 the amazing thing in sandals if you get them small enough you will end up with much better proprioception of your feet compared to shoes. Its pretty common for a good fit to have no space for some of your toes at the end of a sandal. If you take a look at the tarahumara they can be seen having tips of their toes or more hanging off the ends. You don't have to go quite that small. most people would get along better with a fit How Jermy has them sized here your toes should be right up to the edge as there is no toe box to worry about jamming into.That normally means .5-1 size smaller then you buy your shoes. Luna is pretty amazing on the trial they give you. You get 30 days to run walk what ever you do in them. If you want a long wearing model they still make there origen in flaco and 2.0. It doesn't have the wing but that may be a plus

I run in the Mono Gordos and they are the perfect sandals for me as they are a bit more protective and slightly softer.(I am a tenderfoot:-). If you watch or read anything about the tarahumaras they use thick old tires for the sandals they make. The gordos thread does wear quicker then other sandals but the comfort is easily worth the cost. Never had a problem with the side tabs as you mentioned ever after 1500 miles. Good review. Thank you

Thank you! I'll have to check them out. My running sandals (Leadville Trails from Luna Sandals) don't have that plastic side but rather the strap just wraps to around to the bottom. It looks like it would be a design flaw but so far it hasn't frayed or torn yet.

I have the tyre tread lunas, I wear them every day unless it’s too cold. I’ve had them for about 3 years, there’s minimal wear to the soles. My only complaint is that I can’t replace the straps with the new colored straps.

I just discovered Luna. This seems like a good starting point, for someone just getting into minimalist shoes. I am coming from chacos, which I have loved for years, but the straps are pulling my toe the wrong way and the elevated heel isn't doing be favors. Is this the best place to start with Luna?

Hi, just interested if you ultimately replaced this pair with new mono's, and if so did/would you choose the retro version, or stick with the wings? I have a very narrow foot and keen to hear from others who also do to, and if the wings or retro provided the best fit. I'm wondering if any clearance on the sides between the foot and wings may cause any strap tightening issues, or are they as equally secure as the retro's for narrower feet? Many thanks!

Hello Jeremy this was a great review you did of the sandals. I have been thinking about getting a pair of these. I am a chubby fat dude with big very very Extremely very wide feet sz 15 6 E wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are Equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 Inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. My foot outgrow shoe , socks , & boots when I was at 18 years old & Flip flops 🩴 is the only footwear that will barely and I mean barely fit on my foot Because my toes are wider than the flip flops straps. I have been thinking about getting these Sandals because with my chubby wide toes being equally straight across The sandals look like it makes it easier to put on my foot Without the straps on the front of the sandal like flip flops do. Don't get me wrong I love my flip flops🩴 I was raised up wearing them It's just with my foot being 6 1/2 inches wide I need something that I could put on my feet and not have to worry about walking around barefoot👣 Wish I don't mind being barefooted👣 at all I'm 95% of that Barefooted 👣 anyway. I really like how you showed how you was barefooted👣 and wearing the sandal at the same time That really goes to show you are a true Sandal Wear. That's awesome to hear you do everything in your sandals cause I do the same thing too. I even have to wear my flip flops🩴 in 20° and 30゚ temperatures outside Because I have no other foot wear that will fit my extremely wide feet I have. If you get a new pair of sandals can you do a review on that too please. Thank you so much for doing this review I really enjoyed watching the video And thank you for sharing.

if you are on the search for a shoe your foot measurements sent to softstar may be your best bet. Depending on your width diy or custom sandals may be the best option. soft star doesnt quite go up to 15 but if your feet are more size 14 length and you just need the width they may be the best bet. As far as sandals go the cheapest option is probably xero diy kit at their largest size but width may be an issue and they don't list it on the site. but with a rubber hole punch and some leather,cord or what ever you want to use as laces with a sheet of vibram rubber you can do a quick on quick off sandals like xero shows as a basic knots and defintely have enough width. You can find VIBRAM NEWFLEX sheets on etsy if you go that route in 13x10" sheets. It may also be worth reaching out to the luna team but im not sure what they do custom wise as their listed sizes stop at 13 but they make do larger.

@@Demon09-_- Thank you so much Damien I will check out soft star. I can find a sz15 the problem i have is trying to find the my width. With my foot being 6 1/2 inches wide & my toes being evenly straight across it makes it very very difficult to find Footwear because of my toes not being at a 45° angle like shoes are made. I know it doesn't help that my toes are very chubby fat and wide. I always thought problem was because of my toes being very chubby fat and wide but my foot doctor said it's not because of my toes being very chubby fat and wide it's because of my toes being evenly straight across that's stopping my foot from fitting in any shoe. I could have chubby fat wide toes and if my toes were at a 45° angle my foot would fit in any shoe as long as it's extra wide. My toes are so wide that both of my lil toes hanging off the Footbed of my flip flops because of them being evenly straight across. My wife think my toes look so cute in my flip-flops because of how both of my lil toes hanging off my flip flops & how my toes are very chubby fat & wide & evenly straight across. I am married to a crazy wife but I love her to death cuz she make sure my toes are taken care of. I appreciate the information again and I will look into this thank you.

@@mackjenkins7721 yea modern footware is horrible even for Egyptian or slope style where the big toe is the largest and goes slowly down from there as even in wide the toe box still sucks. It sounds like you have what they call square feet with a wide fan. Some minimalist/barefoot shoes cater better then others to a foot shape like yours. But the easiest option may be to make your own sandals diy. It's pretty simple tbh. But if luna or another place will also custom make your sandals that could be an answer.
@mackjenkins77212 жыл бұрын
@@Demon09-_- hey man sorry for responding back I just been really busy. Yes I can definitely agree with you on that. For me it's funny how all of my toes are big and fat with my big toe being really big at 1 1/2 inches wide & the rest of my toes being just a lil bit smaller than that. Yes I do have what they called a box foot the Doctor said. The doctor said they are very few people that have box foot out here. I am looking at a pair of bedrock sandals. They got a hold of me and told me if I had someone to trace my foot and mail that in they can make a sandal that is wide enough for my foot. I told them that my foot was 6 1/2 inches wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are evenly straight across & they said that wasn't a problem & they said it will be a lot easier since my toes are evenly straight across & I wouldn't have a problem putting the Sandals on because of the flip flop straps not being in the front of the sandals. I really do appreciate your help man.

@@JeremyBenfield Thanks Jeremy. Back when i started running ultra, you also sold me on the Speed Goat 4s. But because they are so cushy, it compensates for my poor running form till it is too late when I get injuried.
