What does he mean by the converter locks up? and also what is the significance of White smoke coming out of the exhaust? Thanks, Robert
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix5 жыл бұрын
He means when the torque converter locks up. When it isnt locked you have constant slippage. Think of it like this unlocked is like slipping the clutch on a man dial trans and never letting the pedal all the way up, think of locked as when you let off the clutch completely. When the torque converter is locked the engine is locked straight into the drivetrain with no slippage. Torque converter has to be unlocked at a standstill or the engine would stall when you stop. When you take off it slips but also multiplies torque, then when it locks up theres no slipping. Notice when you push the gas in an automatic the rpms go up and under light to moderate throttle in a higher gear the rpms may hover at the same rpm but the vehicle speed continues to increase. This is because the engine is moving faster than the drivetrain, then the rpms drop a little and you feel like everything is locked together. If you drive a Ford, use manual mode, upshift just to 3rd. Once it's in 3rd you'll feel what seems like it shifting gears again, it's not, the torque converter locks, you'll know its locked because the rpms and speed are directly proportionate, you let off the gas the rpms dont drop until the speed slows down, just like if you were in a vehicle with a manual transmission. In short, once the converter is locked the engine and drivetrain are completely locked together like in a manual transmission once you've let off the clutch pedal. Hard to explain but hope this helps.
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix5 жыл бұрын
White smoke is under fueled or running "lean". When a diesel runs rich or is dumping fuel you get black smoke, it usually clears once you're on full boost. If it starts to white smoke you're not getting enough fuel for the amount of boost.

the REAL TEST= fully load a chevy,dodge and ford each with A loaded trailer and race to the top of "PIKES PEAK.COLORADO". why has this not been done?. are the big 3 afraid to do this? this would prove with no doubt who is the KING TRUCK

TRUMPANZEE HUNTER Every single one of these trucks are far from being street legal, so that will never happen.

Why wouldn't these be street legal? I see trucks like this daily where I live.

Haha. I'm only 1/2 way through the video now and i didn't know what to expect after the first 9s run but now it seems like trailering experience over wallet. don't know any of their backgrounds but i'm thinking guy #1 is a big RV person who drops monster 16000lb camper with #1500 of tongue weight into a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch all summer long. The rest of them had flashy street rims and shiny trim and who tows with that?

Ryan Brown naw his truck ain’t a tower it’s a racer he’s fast but put that weight behind it and it won’t do what these guys do
@thewoodmansk55106 жыл бұрын
Greg could use the 05 with the new set up.
