Step behind the scenes to witness the assembling of a 10,000 hp Chrisman rear end. This video is the detailed assembly of the spindles and drive axle of this 12 inch ring and pinion monster rear end! These rear ends are used in NHRA topfuel directors and funny cars. If you are a mechanical person or just a drag racing fan this video is for you. Follow along with this series as I explained the workings on a $20,000 big black rear end!

wow... this is just an incredible amount of information... and Rob your teaching skills are as good as any of your skills. This is such a fantastic video (as are the other in-depth videos you've done), I've never seen anyone go into this depth about anything fuel car related, it's always just hacked down teasers... but this is the real deal. I'm not dead yet but I'm old enough to have a ton of life's regrets, like never working on (or driving) a nitro car, but watching videos like this is a real treat and I don't feel quite as bad (still wanna do it... hey, if you need free help I'm your guy! I weld, wrench, fabricate... but no way near this level of wow). Thanks! Of course now you made me feel wholly inadequate with my little 9" with tiny 40 spline axles (man, I can't believe how big that axle is... and one piece too! What is the size/spline on that monster???)

most of the big rigs use a similar spacer between the bearings and you torque the nut that holds it all in. Nice design the way the cap actually drives the wheels

Amazing that a Parallel ground washer isn't required to clamp the spindle ends down. Sounds like it is just a standard-ish-ARP-$$$ "stamped/punched" bolt washer with a punch rounded side and a flat side. Not bitching or complaining,, just curious and interesting. ALWAYS face the flat side to the work piece on a punched washer. Thanks for the Video's Rob. More please. Big luck this season. Go snag another US Nats golf check.

Something to think about with silicone on the mounting brackets / spindle rather than an o ring. Silicone will reduce the chances of fretting between the two parts and the resulting loss / reduction of bolt clamping force since the parts are glued together.
