Hi Adwoa, now I know why I'm not smelling the barn yard note as you in Empire Victor. I have an April 2024 batch and Simin Shaikh has had confirmation via Khadlaj that it was reformulated. I'm guessing yours is an earlier batch? Thought it would be useful for others to know. 😢

The Afternoon swim one caught my attention. LV fragrances are not easy to dupe accurately. There seems to be a secret ingredient they use just like Guerlain where dupes will always have that oomph..missing. Would love to sniff the Afternoon Swim dupe. ❤

I think khadlaj crown is a dupe of bvlgari tygar unless the sample she got of afternoon swim is actually a tygar sample.

Thank you for this review, as I have been wondering about this line, particularly Empire Victor. I haven't found any place to get samples of ME fragrances near me, so I am hesitant to blind buy it with that barnyardy note, but I am very intrigued! I also love Khadlaj fragrances - I have quite a few from this brand and they are all impressive. Most recently I picked up 3 from the Le Prestige line, and they are all gorgeous: Empress, Royal, and Bold. Beautiful fragrances that I highly recommend!

I almost forgot to mention how good Karus Secret Musk and 25 Loyalty are as well - I highly recommend that you try both! I am also curious if you have tried Ombre Notes by Khadlaj. The notes sound great, but I haven't seen many reviews of it!

I will say Crown is more similar to Tygar although it gives me more of Afternoon Swim. Empress smells very similar to Paris Corner Khair and I understand they are duping Gissa Imperial Valley

Okay, so I got my Empire Victor today. I don't smell any oud in it, and nor does Khadlaj website mention it in the notes. The only woods they mention are cedarwood and sandalwood. It doesn't quite go into barnyard territory to my nose, not when I compare it against Perris monte carlo Vanille de Tahiti. The funk in the PMC comes from the champaca/magnolia and I highly recommend testing that one if you want a funky vanilla. Simin has Oudgasm Vanilla and says they are nothing alike.

Having sampled a lot of floral indolic fragrances I feel that slightly different note that takes this away from the likes of other vanillas is coming from the floral notes in this one, rather than meaning that it smells woody to me. Either way, it will be a nice layering fragrance to stretch Vanille de Tahiti out.

It's been reformulated. Khadlaj have updated their website to reflect the change but my seller hadn't and had April 2024 batches. I'm mad at Khadlaj. They should have just renamed roe reformulation.

The caramel is not the most noticeable but it helps in making this a bit more gourmand. It is quite different but worth the try in my opinion. It will definitely not smell like anything you might already know or have

Khadlaj is, in my opinion, superior to Lattafa in that you never smell anything off or strange in their fragrances. Their dupes are spot on and a lot of times, better than the original fragrance.

I was hoping to get the nuances within the perfume as I saw some really good reviews online but when I got it and sprayed it, it reminded me of something. Realized it was Bare Vanilla and put it side by side to compare and it smells very similar. Maybe I just need to let it sit and macerate as I only got it a couple of days ago! I own a lot of fragrances including middle eastern ones and know maceration can sometimes do the trick!

Just got empire crown today, my gosh is it gorgeous, when i saw the notes i knew i would love it, i have been after an afternoon swim dupe because i have heard only good things though i havent sampled it yet. I am in love with Empire Crown and i love patchouli and i love how its blended here. I looked at Tyga by Bvulgari and it has the same exact notes as Emipre Crown so i wonder if they intended to dupe them. They do say Tyga and Afternoon swim are very similar

Ok so it has a slight animalic touch to it and I think that is from the type of Oud they used.. it is also a bit delicious, like vanilla gourmand . It’s in the same family as Paris Corner December vanilla to my nose. Hope this helps 👍❤️
