I think the biggest common mistake players make with BRM is to optimize their talents and rotation for damage rather than survivability. And guides like these even encourage them to do so. It is widely known, that BRM has high sustained AOE DPS, but needs more attention from healers than other tanks. So it should be your priority to reduce that dependence as much as possible. For example: Bonedust Brew offers almost no defensive value and directly competes with Anvil & Stave, which will reduce the cooldown of your brews by about 20% in M+. Special Delivery might do less damage than RJW, but it helps a lot with kiting or fixating mobs when you don't have a Rogue/Mage to slow them. Use Blackout Combo for Breath of Fire. Period. A simply castsequence macro can do that for you (/cs KS->BOK->BOF reset=5). Talent Detox. Period. And get into the habit of using it whenever you can. Help your healer and DPS survive and focus on their job. Use Expel Harm often. Don't wait for your HP to drop to 30%, use it at 65%. That thing has a 5s CD and a 0.5s GCD. There is no point in treating it like Lay on Hands.

Just because it's only a 5s cd doesn't mean you should hold it with orbs for times you actually need it, bonedust has plenty of survability boost through bonus brew cdr as well as also being dmg and self healing boost, not taking advantage of your biggest strength (fuck u damage) then your not getting value out of the spec Detox, there is plenty of dungeons you don't need detox for, no point on taking them there

Bonedust Brew is a lot of brew cd reduction and it increases your self healing, assuming you're hitting yourself with it, which you should be. Detox is only useful if there are important things to cleanse with it, theres no reason to have it 100% of the time. Same with ring of peace since I'm thinking about it. If you don't use it/it has no real gain for the content you're doing, it's a free talent point for something else. Special Delivery is a good suggestion, it's also passive which will help new players with the button bloat BRM has, but it's notable that you will lose a lot of damage because RJW procs resonant fist often due to all the ticks. Blackout Combo is a talent that shouldn't even be taken if you aren't willing to learn how to play with it. That macro will break constantly, also, because the cds don't line up nicely like that all the time. There's nothing wrong with just not taking it, put the point in high tolerance or another defensive talent. oh and the internal 3s cd on anvil and stave makes it garbage. if they reduced that, it would be a strong defensive option, but you just get so little cd reduction out of it compared to pretty much everything else. there's a reason no one serious runs it. You hold expel harm for lower hp because 5s is a long time in high keys on a tank like BRM where you can/will be getting trucked. It will top your hp if used with balls and lower hp. using it at high hp its a tiny heal and will just burn orbs so you dont have them when you actually need them. This isn't really an issue as you push higher keys/harder content anyway, though, because you're playing BRM, you WILL be at low hp and hugging that expel harm button for dear life. What actually helps your healers is properly using your self sustain.

Hopfully this is what you meant If you you always have have cdr to fortifying brew During dampen harm you can get 20-50% damage reduction During it, it doesn't matter if you have fort brew up or not, you get that, You don't want to stack defensive cds as you really shouldn't need to

why is bonedust such a meta talent we all 'must' have? i cant seem to get it from reading the description. maybe i'm dumb (probably) but whats so great about it i wonder and would be happy if someone could explain.

Essentially while Bonedust Brew is active on your target, you have a chance to deal replicated damage. This is pretty important for a tank due maintaining threat and dealing more damage to defeat mobs or bosses. While Bonedust is applied to the Brewmaster as a buff, you have a chance to replicate healing, which synergies well with Stagger and our Celestial Fortune talent. It's allowing for the Brewmaster to double dip into healing abilities. I hope that makes sense!

A 10% dr during celestial brew would effectively just be +10% to the shield What wouldv been good is celestial nrew also gives 10-20% flat dr for 8s (meaning if the shield breaks, you still have the dr)

We definitely do, but now that we are above 480 ilvl, stagger does a lot of the heavy lifting. Hopefully when this class gets reworked they will add something.

Should just convert a few buttons into passives, fuse exploding keg into keg smash, fuse fortifying brew into celestial brew. Fuse blackout kick and rising sun kick. Fuse healing elixir into purifying brew. Fuse black ox brew into bonedust brew. Fuse Rushing Jade wind into a buff after using Spinning Crane Kick. Then just tune the numbers after simplifying. Feels like these are nice ideas.

Don't rework, I don't feel like either monk spec should have a rework. Brew is good as it is, it is a lot of buttons sure, but that's part of the fun.

why does everyone hate haste on a brewmaster? it makes no sense. It has a massive amount of synergy.
