A look at a 99 year old McCormick Deering 10-20 brass carburetor. This carburetor was manufactured by Ensign for International Harvester. This carburetor is restored to museum quality. With all new internal parts, this carburetor should last for another 100 years.
I am not planning on selling this carburetor. Not for a year, or so, anyway. If I were to sell it, I don't even really know what the value of this would be.

I was just at Pete's Tractor Salvage in Annamoose, North Dakota. I saw several 10-20 carburetors. A couple of them looked complete and very rebuildable. I left without asking how much they would be asking.

Thank you James. The carburetor pile got much larger as I have recently completed a few more. I will sell them all over time.

Do you have a website for contact info? I'm working on my great-grandfather's, and hit a snag.

Hi MacAttack. No, I do not have a website. I do this for fun, for challenge and for hobby. You would have to provide me a way to contact you. Then, you could quickly delete the comment to limit your exposure. That's about the best we can do. Or, just ask the question here.

I am restoring a McCormick deering 10-20 and it is missing the carburetor any chance you still have it?

Hi! Thank you for watching my video. I still have it. In fact, its still in that same box on the same table. Like wine, it is aging and getting better. I have been looking for another one to restore and sell.

@@boltplz2117 Thank you for asking. I sell many carburetors. Piles of them. I wouldn't even know what to sell this carburetor for. I've never seen one for sale. I'm in the "keeping" mode right now. Sorry. Maybe I should buy another core to rebuild to have a "seller". Parts are hard to find and expensive when you do.

I am in the process of listing a 10-20 carb on eBay. I have one that is partially done. But, I need the bottom throttle plate casting to complete it. Look in eBay.

Do you by chance have a carb for a 10-20 that you haven't turned into the crown jewels that you would part with?
@bryanh1944FBH
@bryanh1944FBH Жыл бұрын
Hi victoryengineer! I do not. This is the one and only 10-20 carburetor that I have. Nor do I have any cores to rebuild. However, I do see cores available. What I do not know, is the availability of rebuild parts. In fact, I had an "incomplete" core in my hands this past Saturday but passed on it because of the uncertainty of rebuild parts and needing yet another core. So, the "crown jewel" continues to sit in its box on the desk.

@@bryanh1944FBH The complete rebuild kits are readily available. They include far more than the normal kits as well. They also include the upgraded doughnut shaped brass float rather than the problematic cork float that has to be coated and maintained.

@@victoryengineer That is good news. My carburetor enjoys a complete kit with a brass float. I recall the kit being a touch spendy. Perhaps I should buy some cores and build up a carb as there seems to be demand. The problem is it would be hard to know what the carb is worth. I don't see them for sale.

Really enjoy your video's Bryan, always very informative. I am restoring a 1925 10-20 and have some questions surrounding the carbie I would like to ask you. Have you an email address i can contact you through?

Hi. Thank you for watching. Naturally, I have an address; however, I am reluctant to post it in KZbin. Because of the interest I am getting, I am thinking about rebuilding some (or at least one) for resale. It still seems like a lot of people are still fixing up 10-20s.

Completely understand regarding your email address. The 10-20's are a great machine to restore and becoming scarce. With people like yourself out there with such skill and passion certainly does make it easier when dealing with rare and specialized components like these carburetors. I myself am finding it very difficult to locate information online regarding the Ensign carburetors and I haven't attempted to service the unit untill I can locate a rebuild kit if they even are available. When I stumbled across your videos my hope was renewed😁. Bryan, its stamped on the top ENSIGN 4-S3-T 1"1/4JA if I am reading that correctly. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Regards Daniel

@@DanielFleming-j6d Hi Daniel, I too do not know of any kits that are available. Individual parts are available from Fordson House in Escanaba, MI. But be informed, they do not give the parts away! I was on their website a few days ago and worked with them to correct some information on their 10-20 parts. So, I know their website is up to date. My 10-20 carburetor does not have this number that you listed (unless its inside the cover). My carburetor has a brass tag for licensing information (International Harvester Co & Ensign Carburetor Co.), 10-20 firmly stamped into the top cover and then casting numbers on every piece, e.g., 178VC on the fuel bowl. Question: Have you, or anybody else who reads this, ever seen a 10-20 carburetor for sale? If so, what do they sell for?
