40 years ago; the directions said to install them a certain distance apart for them to create/produce the ultra-sound/whistle.

I had a f150 pick up and never had a close call with deer for 13 years I drove it and now I have an Explorer and right away first week with it a deer ran across in front of me so close I almost hit it and it happened again twice more in the next couple months after so it seems to me the deer can hear a truck coming but not so much cars but I got a 8 pack of deer whistles and mounted them all in my grill and two on top on the side of the roof racks so we’ll see if one comes running out in front of me,worth a try,I’ll see if one even looks at me when it’s just sitting there on the side of the road

@@Yowzoe ok my conclusion a year later,since I installed deer whistle in my grill but I took off the ones on top longtime ago is they work and work well,not one deer has ran out in front of me since I used them and when on the side of road they pick there head up and look at me so I know they hear it and maybe a few times they didn’t look but turned around and walked back in the woods,I see them all the time at night around here but they are worth using.

@@MikeGeorgsen007 thanks, it’s really hard to say for sure, but those are some data points, right? “Anecdote is not evidence”, as they say, but it seems to be working for you. I think I’ll buy an 8-pack for my Ranger.

I have had them on every vehicle I have owned and I have seen a deer turn its head and go back into the forest? I know 10 people who would say they do work.But not during rutting season. My Aunt had them on her car for 10 years. She drove the same route ever day. When she bought a new car she forgot all about them. Two weeks later wham. $4000 dollars in damage

Clearly, this guy doesn't live in a wooded area. I've seen these work several times. Normally a deer would freeze in the road because its confused; but not with a whistle. It works like a dog whistle, but for deer. You ever hear a gym whistle? Pretty loud, even from far away right? Deer have super sensitive hearing. Any hunter will tell you, they run if you step on a stick and break it. They run AWAY from the sound. Dude clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. City slickers laughing like they know.. lol. They don't know jack squat. It's a joke to them, but to me, they're the joke.

Wolves. More wolves. The states he mentions with overpopulations of deer have also nearly wiped out wolves. People don’t get that predators are an essential part of every ecosystem

Nope... wolves kill people too. Let people hunt. Deer meat is delicious, not pumped with hormones, etc. Just natural. Healthiest red meat you can eat.

Believe it or not, we like seeing deer at the side of the road and don't want to scare them away. Of course, we don't like seeing them in front of our car! I'm thinking of using them in Oct thru Dec -- not only is it crazy mating season it's also when the roads are more likely to be slippery and it's too darned cold to be deer watching. Do those here who have hit deer find that it is usually October through December?

@Yowzoe Actually hit a deer with them on my truck but I wasn't going really fast. I was slowing down and the thing just walked Basically broadside right in front of me. Was flabbergasted and then he got up and popped over the fence, about three grand on my truck.

Don't bother mentioning that the Iowa State Highway Patrol uses an electronic deer whistle, and have always used them. I used to install them on the new cruisers at Gabus Ford.

Yeah. But you still know to move when a train is coming, duh. Also, cleaning them is no different than checking tires or cleaning wiper blades. It's just regular auto maintenance. ✌❤

Is the "automatic collision braking" (ACB) proven 100% to work for cars ? If yes then I definitely would buy vehicles equipped with ACB :-)

If it makes noise is it just as likely to scare a deer into running in front of you ? These are avaliable in Electric as well like a small horn Speaker. Hey the auto industry is selling a ton of parts they don't care if you hit a Deer .... dummies . Best bet slow to a speed that you have better chance to react at . No way your avoiding a deer at 80 mph .....

If they are running out of the woods into the highway you will hit them for sure deer alerts or not, I have them on 14 vehicles and I beleave they work.
