Gardeners who love broccoli wait months to get that big delicious head. And broccoli plants take up a LOT of space in the garden for what they produce if you are only going to harvest one head. But once you've harvested that first head, you don't have to pull out the plants, and you don't have to be relegated to tiny little side shoot florets that are mostly leaf. In this video, I show you a trick to getting HUGE second, third, fourth, etc, heads throughout the season off the same broccoli plant.

Nice one bro! Going to try this one this season. Will take a while though as my babies are still only tiny. Valuable tip

What if you cut off the main head as early as possible to have 2 or 3 medium heads by end of first harvest

You could try it, but I don't think I'd mess with the first head. The more you divide the smaller they will all be because they put more energy into more stem and leaf.

Good stuff, thank you. Maybe this works with Cauliflower.

I don't think cauliflower produces secondary florets like broccoli, but you could try it. In my experience cauliflower grows much slower than broccoli. New broccoli shoots can form a harvestable little head in a couple weeks or less.

@@HardcoreSustainable Makes sense! I've never grown broccoli. Always stop at the sprouts. I will try your method and start growing this healthy cruciferous!

No specific reason. I think either would work fine.

I d like to try this, then. Too manysecondary florettes have been ’wasted’ in my garden. Any trick on how to keep the broccoli plant short ? Mine topple over and are leggy !
@HardcoreSustainable
@HardcoreSustainable Жыл бұрын
Hmm, not sure. If they are leggy they might not be getting enough sunlight. A broccoli plant should stay pretty short and stocky if it has enough sunlight.

I like many shoots growing with small broccolis. It’s much tender when I stir fry. Happy gardening!!
