There were no terrorist groups 50 years ago. They sprang up in subsequent years. They caused mayhem causing fear and panic. Interesting part, they occurred only in areas of interest. Foreign countries may possibly assist African states who have a specific internal "threats". However, I suspect that most often the African states are far better placed to resolve their problems themselves - perhaps with the provision of arms, equipment and advice, but with no involvement or participation by the foreign country. African states are best placed to resolve their problems themselves with no more than financial and logistic support from "the West". When "The West" is involved, it is because they are pursuing their own goals and benefits.
