The funnel one I did once for a challenge and I won it. Turns out if you rotate the funnel so that the surface of the cone is in line with the flame, you can blow it out. The air travels over the surface. Don't stand too far from the candle or you'll have to rotate the funnel some more, since the air will travel around the rim a bit.
