I too am striving for those same numbers....so...came here to learn about Tree Swallows...I've kept my camera set up 2 ft away from their entrance to their birdhouse I've hung outside just off our deck. I LOVE watching them each year. We lived across the street and had horrible, record breaking heat of nearly 100*...the birdhouse was under the eve's, no direct sunshine...I worried about the babies getting too hot...in the morning I found all 5 of them "gone/dead" I cried like a baby....but that year was rare heat, was 10-15 yrs ago? and THEN here in Oregon, Eagle Creek area, we had extremly high heat, well over the forecasted 117*...it hit 120*...I worried about the 5 babies AND the parents...but I put an ice-pack on top of the bird house, changing it every 2 hours, or sooner. The birdhouse has a tin roof, so it kept the babies nice and cool. I worried about their not being fed all day and wondered if I should feed them...but after checking on them, they seem'd to be okay. The night temps were high as well...86*...very VERY unusual...was the night after our having the 120* temps....I was so thankful when I heard their familiar chirps...and the sun was approaching at 4:30 am...the parents were flying around, feeding their hungry babies. I posted a 4 hour video of the "live" I did today...it was 50* cooler today, overcast and cloudy. The parents spent the day feeding them, I went inside to fix dinner and now, their nest is quiet...I'm pretty sure they've taken off...I'm sad, but thankful my hard work, keeping them cool paid off. I think when I wasn't looking, one of them flew out of the nest as I watched the parent flying overhead and a smaller one with them, as 2 faces peered out of the hole....Now I will look forward to next year and I'll have more nest for them....You can see my video here...and I'm your new SUBmariner!

@@ZeldaZelda-RichesToRags First of all I cannot think you enough for putting the ice pack on top of the bird house! 120 degrees I cannot even imagine! That’s crazy! Tree Swallows are very beautiful birds! I am fixing to go check out your video and become one of your SUBmariners too! Thanks again!

Hi I have a question. We have a swallow nest and once the babies hatched they left for a while now they are back working on the nest. What are they doing?
@photographyadventuresbygraciel3 жыл бұрын
Well if they are like my birds they hatch two broods twice a year. So if I was taking a guess I would say they are probably doing renovations on their nest to lay some more eggs. Thank you!

They have such an unusual blue color don’t they Gracie? I was amazed by the number of eggs they lay too. Seems they keep on the move a lot too with their migration. Great video ❤️❤️

I have them in my house is it to toch the egg

They are beautiful birds. I wouldn’t recommend trying to touch the eggs as the birds normally get really upset.

Good job any ideas on how to keep they from attacking car mirrors and windows 😋
@photographyadventuresbygraciel3 жыл бұрын
Yeah tie a bag around the car mirror or window but make sure your not driving! Lol!
