The personal interview or PI is known as the most important part of the SSB interview process, it a formal interaction between the candidate and the interviewing officer also known as IO which could go up to 30 mins to 2 hours.
The personal interview is so crucial that even the slightest mistake can ruin your whole performance or might damage your chances of getting recommended. Why didn't you score well in 10th class? Sir, since Class 1, my high school teacher mother encouraged me to answer questions correctly in my own words. Until Class 5, my knowledgeable and skilled teachers graded me in the Distinction. As soon as I began Class 6, I had an abrupt change in quality of teaching and grading. I was out of primary school. Now, I had new teachers in Classes 6 and 7. They taught us to study using custom-made guides instead of textbooks. This habit led to rote learning. When I was in Class 8, I again had change in teachers. Now, I had to adjust to taking classnotes. By the time I reached Class 10, I was trained to memorise and reproduce answers to questions in examinations. I managed to score 85 per cent in Class 10 Board Exams. I could have scored a 100 per cent if I had the chance to memorise the evaluators' answer keys before I wrote Class 10 exams. 🙂

The IO wont give you so much time for answering the questions he has asked ... You cant give these long speeches in front of him... He would ask rapid fires and and they are needed to be answered quickly with sufficient imformation to satisfy him

Why are you not working anywhere since you have graduated? I applied to suitable jobs in Australia after graduating. But my applications were refused because I wasn't a permanent resident of Australia. I was still an international student on student visa. In India, I am overqualified to be interviewed for Trainee Mechanical Engineer vacancies. Employers prefer Diploma graduates and Bachelor graduates. Not postgraduates. Also, salary negotiation is a headache to employers. Postgraduates deserve higher salaries. Employers aren't ready to offer higher salaries.
