Great video! I have a tech question Id appreciate some help with. I have a five year old HP pavillion laptop running windows 10, and want to get a new computer..also an HP...whats the easiest way to transfer my hard drive from the old to the new? So appreciate your great content! Cathy
@al2011035 жыл бұрын
HI Cathy, since you haven't had a reply yet, I'll weigh in. First of all, your old hard drive will not become your new main (C) drive. It will be additional. You should still be able to access all your files, but software would need to be reinstalled. Partly this is due to not having the correct drivers for the new computer installed on the old drive. Also, to be honest, 5 years and you'd want to be swapping drives anyway. So you have two options. 1) Open up the new computer and install the drive as a second drive in an available bay. Plenty of tutorials online to help you with this, very easy. Or 2) Buy an external HDD mount, which would plug into a USB slot on your new computer. This would allow you to plop in your old drive as if it were an external drive. Alternatively, you can probably still buy a proper housing for the drive, which REALLY turns it into an external HDD. Hope this helps!

Well, since 99% of the American populous is too busy carrying out nasty, abusive and profane attacks on social media, or taking useless "selfies", I don't think you're going to get a whole lot of new traffic...unless it assists in the goals listed above. That said, I did find this video very helpful.
