One of my clients, back in 2012 had a brand new (couple months old, by the time I first saw him with it) ZR1 in that beautiful blue, elite. Let me drive it around for a day. Didn't do anything crazy with it but all I remember was how it drove, how it sounded and how that fucking shifter felt and sounded....still to this *day* do I want a blue elite ZR1. My Goodness.

As much as I love the Venom F5 and revolve my entire personality around it, it's actually quite of a controversial car. Hennessey was infamous for scamming customers of their Vipers back in the 2000s, claiming to have tuned them, but ultimately never delivering them, which is one of the reasons the F5 is hated. Secondly, it was in development hell since 2014, claiming speeds of 290 mph by that time, which led many people to think it would never even reach anywhere near 300 mph. Back in 2021, it reached 272 mph as part of a test run, but finally, Hennessey confirmed the 300 mph record attempt to be done later this year.

Purists hate the c8 as it isnt a "real corvette" because its mid engine, its not the fastest corvette ever(both the c6 and c7 are faster, but its better at turning and the zr1 c8 is likely going to be faster) and is apparently a "knockoff ferarri," but I still like it. Its not the best looking (that still goes to the c7 z06, c6 zr1, and c3 imo), but the c8 z06 is legitimately a supercar, not just a sports car that is as good as one, but a real supercar, and people who love dissing corvette hate that. People joke that no one ever gets the base stingray, but honestly its still great and holds street prescence (even a c7 stingray isnt too common where I live, while in southern states alot of people see it multiple times a week or even daily, here in the northeast I see alot of porsches however). I forget the man who came up with Chevy making a sports car line, but he envisioned a mid engine sports car that want going to be too pricey like 40 or 50 years ago, when mid engine wasnt really done. Now its become a thing with supers and hypers, people think it devieates from corvette, and others say it just makes it a wannabe ferarri(which is dumb, the c8 looks like a mid engine c7, which just happens to look not too different from the body of a 458, its pure coincidence.) Im personally very excited for the zr1, and the c9 thats coming in a few years, I wanna see how far they can improve on mid engine, perhaps by 2033(not sure the exact year but it should be around 2033-35) theyll have the zr1 c9 out and itll break 220 mph stock and be great on the track. I dont wanna see them pull out of it just because a few people dont like it, I think they are capable of creating an insane american supercar if they can continually improve on the mid engine layout and gearing to surpass the speeds that the c6 and c7 achieved.

There are two I despise. One, the Corvette ZR1 ZTK, that costs 200k. Its already mid-engine, which I dont like. Once its out of warranty you cannot service it in any easy way. You have to split the car in two for what..spark plugs? Its new now, but once it has 30k miles....thats one spicy bill. Im a tech, worked on aircraft and I dont have the tools required to work on it. And I can easily say I have 200k worth of tools. So good luck with one of those. Add to that the computers, the amount of software and diag computers you need to fix on (Not talking tuning, just fixing), it will make these VERY expensive in the future. For stock ones. The modded or glitchy ones will be dirty cheap. Unless somebody figures out where to drill through the body to swap out plugs, like the fuel pump in third gen F bodies (which wrecks their value) The other car, is the latest Ford GT. Its an Ecoboost engine. Its a V6 and it was the clarion call, for things to come, when Ford dropped every single V8. Even the Navigator has a V6. The Raptor has a V6. Its gross. Sure, the Raptor-R is coming out and the Bronco R but I cant imagine what they cost. Over 100k. V8s were cheap. Remember when...well, youre too young. Most are now, but I hate using this line. But when I was young, my first brand new car was a cheap car. Economy you could say. It was a Crown Vic. There was only a V8 in them. Great car, durable, good power and mileage. Leather, power everything. MSRP of 33k in 04, but got it for 18k. But you could get them with cloth seats, bench seats, no options. Just a nice rumble, and good cruiser. Lincolns were all V8. And then they made the Continental a front wheel drive V6. A Taurus basically. And I said, eventually they will make only V6s...and not even a single car. All SUVs. So, return to monke I guess. No more new cars for me. Ever. But yeah, I despize those two cars. For betraying their heritage. And for chasing profits, to the point I genuinely asked, why dont I just buy a Ferrari instead? Sure, not new, but screw it. A Testarossa, is infinitely cooler than the ZTK. Its value is only going up, and I do regret when I could have bought my friends TR. An 87, red, 50k miles for 20k bucks. Now the guy that bought it is selling it again, but for 180.
