I feel like it just rubs off the top surface of the paper. That's probably why it doesn't work on printer paper. Plus, we got some for my house before and I swear it was taking off the surface layer of paint when my dad was cleaning our walls with it.

I LOVE all of these hacks! Especially the ironing and erasing. I am new to watercolor painting, and your videos have been an amazing help to me! I even mention your channel and videos in my art blog. I have a new hack (maybe) for you. I use painter's tape for delicate surfaces to frame my watercolors. Have never had a problem with it lifting the paper (so far). In a pinch, when masking fluid isn't available, I have simply cut a shape from the tape and applied it to the paper where I would have used masking fluid. It would be problematic for super complicated masking, but it actually works pretty well for more simple shapes and lines. AND, I can use your hair dryer hack to remove it just in case. Thanks again! You're amazing!

I never knew I could do that with the watercolor. I've thrown away so many papers because I've messed up. I can thank you enough 😂
@xTK421x3 жыл бұрын
I love and use the eraser sponge technique. However, don't forget that some watercolor paper (like the paper I use, Arches) has an ingredient called "size" that activates when water hits it. Erasing can mess this up. Size helps keep watercolor from moving or bleeding too much and helps keep paper wet longer. Arches rough holds pigment in place MUCH more than Arches rough. Weather or not it is a different level of size or the texture of the paper or both, I do not know. I think the larger texture is from having more size in it.

If you want sparkly watercolours, find a cheap loose powder mica eyeshadow in silver, while, opal etc. Add some of that powder to your paint mix. Also, if you buy the ice trays with lids, you can make up several palettes of your favourite colours and store or use for travel. Adding a couple of drops of either glycerine or liquid honey to each well will keep colours soft and juicy for ages.
