You can buy a new Lee reloading set on sale for about $180 or less now, you can find 32 ACP reloading dies for $30 or less used, a little powder and some primers, and some used brass and it will quickly repay for itself, reloading is the way to go these days unless you’re buying something like 9 mm which you can get so cheap it really doesn’t pay to reload it.

Unfortunately modern American factory ammo uses a .308 diameter bullet which has zero accuracy and has made these wonderful old pistols useless except at point blank range. The European loading for .32 acp was always hotter than American loadings. In part out of fear of old WWI & WWII guns that could have issues of wear & break . A hard cast flat point .32 custom ammo is a wonder to behold & competes very well against a .380 . The .32 has a nice & easy recoil making fast shots & accurate ones verses a .380 .

And a lot of that "wear and break" is nonsense as well, as you know. I have an old .22 that is over 100 years old and I put the hottest stuff through it over and over again. 7,65mm is my absolute favorite cartridge. It's absolutely comical how people in the U.S. readily dismiss the cartridge. It is a very lethal round. Forget about domestic U.S. made ammo. Opt for S&B or Fiocchi loaded to correct European spec's. My daily carry choice is either a PPK or Beretta 81FS. I do not plan on changing my caliber! The PPK was not importable because its grip did not meet the height requirement of the 1968 gun control act. Walther got around it by taking a PPK slide and it's 3.3-inch barrel and putting it on a PP frame which was just long enough to meet the pistol height import criteria. They did not lengthen the PPK barrel.

I actually prefer it to my Mod 84 bb in .380acp. The 81 is a 12 shot, the 84 bb an 8. Plus it's super accurate, so I'd rather have 12 shots of 32acp instead of 8 shots of .380acp.

Possibly your .32 revolver is a Brazilian INA - Indústria Nacional de Armas (National Firearms Industry). That company went to bankrupt in 1972. INA revolvers made up to 1968 has smaller grips, with no area to rest the little finger. Post-1968 has enlarged grips to comply the U.S. Gun Control Act of the same year. Pre-1968 INAs also lacks a hammer safety bar. If your gun has the short grip, avoid keep a loaded chamber aligned with the firing pin!

.32 is my go-to for conceal carry. Usually my Walther PP. Yes, I have less power and capacity (depending on the pistol), than more popular rounds, but I can fit it in my pocket with how small & concealable they are. I'm also a fan of the lack of recoil from a steel frame .32, it feels like shooting a .22. If I need to quickly point and shoot in an emergency, I know I can control it even in a panic. 380 is one of the worst rounds. FMJs overpenetrate and ice pick most targets. Hollow points are a crapshoot trying to find any that work with various barrel lengths without underpenetrating or underexpanding. It's also expensive. It recoils a lot in equivalently sized handguns to most of the smaller 32 pocket guns. And to top it all off it is usually lower capacity and less accurate than the 32s. The 32acp in FMJ is cheaper than the nice 380 hollowpoints you'll need to make it reasonably effective, easier to aim, faster followup shots, more inherently accurate of a bullet, greater capacity by one to 2 rounds on most equivalent sized models, a few smaller guns than even the lcp sized ones exist like seecamps and such, the 32 fmj is more reliable than hollow point 380 also...and with FMJ you get ideal penetration on humans in a very accurate and easy to aim very well package that is as easy as a 22 to hit multiple rounds touching each other at 10 yards in vital zones that stop any aggressor instantly.

I love the feel of the 81 in my hand, it is well balanced, and the trigger pull is excellent. After carrying a 1911 and the Beretta 92 for years, the weight of the 81 is reassuring. As far as the claim of 'not enough penetration for self-defense', police and military carried .32 ACP pistols for, in some cases three quarters of the 20th century. With modern ammo, it has in excess of twelve inches of penetration, per the FBI tests. Most people aren't twelve inches thick. It will break bone and keep on going. I seriously doubt if anyone would want to get hit by it, and most perps would surely give up the fight after one or two well placed hits. And remember, James Bond could drop a bad guy at 50 yards with one shot from his PPK.

I had a .32 Automatic Colt Pistol when I was younger and it was a nice pistol but my chief complaint was the slide was too soft. Mine had been manufactured somewhere around 1915 and though I didn't shoot it all that much I would shoot it about once a month for about 200 rounds per session. I had the hardness checked and it was about 35 Rc. I didn't own the .380 Colt automatic pistol model of 1908 but I believe that the hardness would've been similar. One more older collectible pistol I had years ago was the Remington Model 51 in .32 ACP. I also owned a Mauser model HSC in .380 caliber that was made around 1969. This pistol was a lot harder than the older pistols. The HSc was also my favorite pocket pistol. It was the safest pocket pistol I had. I had to admire the workmanship that was put into these old firearms. The manufacturing expertise was bar none some of the best.

Walther PP and PPk: Designed in the 1930s, the family of pistols have a good reputation. This is bolstered by being named in the novels as James Bond's sidearm. Interesting to note the PP was made as a open belt holster 'police' gun. The PPk was intended as a concealed carry arm. Currently (August 2023) is around $750 to $800 and is available in .380 ACP only. For a 'old' edition, they are considered collector items and will cost - usually - over $2000. Pretty serious money for a hide out pistol for use on a daily basis. The M1903 Colt is really neat. It did serve to popularize the round in the U. S. only. In Europe the round was first used and gained popularity there by the Fabrique Nationale (FN) 1900 and 1910, both designs of John Browning. It is far more accurate to say, the Signal 9 Reliant is an update version of the Mossberg Brownie. It had four barrels with a rotating firing pin as well. But is was offered in .22 long rifle only. The basic Mossberg designed pistol was also produced in updated and larger caliber versions by a couple companies, but were discontinued soon after and neither one a commercial success. I am curious as to why, when the narrator describes a particular arm, the accompanying footage shows people shooting other firearms? Were the firearms described fired and critiqued in performance? CZ is an excellent manufacturer in concept, design and execution of manufacture. The history of CZ involves Brno (a city in what is now the Czech Republic, and pronounced 'bruno') known for making a version of the WWII version of the 98 Mauser for the NAZI occupiers of the nation at the time. Beretta 3032 is the great-grandson (great-great-grandson?) of the Beretta Jetfire and Minx. Those preceding pistols date from the early 1950s. They were chambered in .25 ACP and .22 Short, respectively. The .32 ACP version is a larger framed pistol, but based on the same design. SIG-Sauer P230. Not a bad pistol overall. I didn't look up the current prices, but SIG-Sauer is not a cheap brand all in all. The Scorpion. Be first on your block! The Cobra derringer is a design take off of the Remington derringer in all the Cowboy shows, both TV and movies. As stated in the video, it's not really suited for serious use.

I have a Savage 1907 .32. Made in 1919. Amazingly it works very well with American ammo! Catch is... the slide is very hard to rack and the 10 shot mag you can barely get 8 rounds in. Good point is, even with those awful sights it shoots dead on at 7 yards groups quite well. And what is cool is the barrel rotates. Yes it's a semi-locked breach (as if the .32 ACP needs that.) And my Mauser 1914 .32 acp, made in 1915, also shoots very well (and much easier to rack the slide!)

32 ACP = 7,65 mm was fine when in times when criminals did not act drugged on narcotics and gunfights in civilized Europe were rare. Nowadays this is pretty much different. Still I maintain, that a hit at a vital point matters more than the size and speed of the bullet. As far as humans are concerned, I`m not talking of tigers or bears.

Calling a 32 or other small caliber round as useless in self-defense is wrong. any caliber can kill and I bet anyone watching this video would not want to get shot with a 32 or any other bullet putting a hole in your body and bleed to death.

What crap. I am talking about the visuals. You are talking about .32 ACP and showing .270 Winchester ammo. You are mentioning ammo availability in Europe. i am pretty sure that .270 Win. is not a common round in Europe. Spend a minute or two to find something appropriate. If you just want to make a podcast, then do it.

Wish we were alowed to own and Cary a gun in the UK? The way things are going in Britain, if you get attacked with a knife,or are threatened with a gun, by some young street gangster? You must plead for mercy? For your life? Your not even allowed to carry pepper spray? Your not allowed to use CS gass on an attacker? We are not allowed to carry a knife? We are not allowed to use brass knuckles? You cant even use a baseball bat to defend themselves? You can't attack someone who brakes into your house? Or yor car? Or your motorcycle? Even a soldier and an armd police officer have been taking to court for murder in yhe line iof duty? A year or two ago and old farmer eho had his farmhouse broken into on five separate occasions ? Shot and killed a burglar? Was arrested and sent to prison for a couple of year's when the home office eas asked how this could happen to a poor farmer, the home office replied bacause he was shot in the back whilst he was trying to escape ? Wich renderd the charged to be premeditation with intent??? Christ in England even if you beat someone its your fault and you rnd up in court? What a shit system British justice is? Criminals have more rights than you?.

Actually for Bond the original .25 made a lot of sense . Flemings own issued .25 acp , whether it was a Colt 1908 , common issue at the time, or maybe even a Beretta .25 was common fare for intelligence work , it had to be hidden at all costs. .32 acp were issued also when ultra concealment was not paramount. I have often wondered how Ian Fleming knew about the Beretta .25 or if he had one himself .

Flemming worked for naval intelligence during WWII and learned quite a lot about covert missions, having been in charge of several himself. ( basically he was a real life "M" during WWII ) Writing novels was simple enough with his many connections withing the military after the war. :)
