We had a blue 1960 Dodge Matador wagon when I grew up. It was a neat car. The pushbutton control for the transmission was the best part.

Yes, thanks!, Interestingly, We had the 1959 DODGE Coronet ! Crean/ over Beige Colors,NINE Passenger/ Rear Face Station/ Push Button V8(?,), for us five Kids, etc . I had to drive for a year or, so until Dad found 1954 FORD v8/2 DR cusomized(1957 289 V8/4 BBL/ Dual Exha, etc)…Admittedly, the ‘59 big, drove Nice…..

"How refreshing to hear a real voice with original research" This video almost certainly uses AI-generated voice and research. Video is full of sing-songy cliches and errors, and illogical representations: * 9:30 its reasons for the 1960 Matador being one-year-only. It was simply a nameplate. Using that nameplate one-year only had little or nothing to do with the merits of the model * 7:26 photo of a 1959 model when describing the 1957 model * Other comments note errors in the 1931 Dodge and engine descriptions Given all these errors -- typical of AI -- this video has very low credibilty A grab bag of cliches: "Highly prized by collectors... known for its durability and simplicity... 4:00 straightforward yet reliable for its era... reflecting the engineering priorities of the time ... 6:30 ... providing solid perforrmance that complemented its stylish design" If this is a human writer, it's a beginner or well versed in padding with meaningless cliches.

My friend and I went to a Voc/tech high school 2 towns away and we had to provide our own transportation. Our hometown was not going to run a school bus for 2 sometimes 3 students. They gave us $1 per day for gas. Then we had to work part time jobs to keep the cars going. It was a grueling pace. But my friend got a 58 Dodge Coronet, red and white. What a beautiful car. Powerful v-8. Rode like a Cadillac. THe down side was that he could not keep rear main oil seals in it. Unfortunately that car didn't last long. THat oil seal cost a lot to replace and to fix the problem it may have required a new crankshaft or complete engine rebuild. Beautiful car tho (sigh)

Whoever is doing the voice-over is astonishingly good! This is my first time here. I'll be back. (BTW...Dodge pronounced "Polara" with a flat "a" in the middle. poh-LAIR-uh. It SHOULD be pronounced the way it is here, but...) ;-)

Wasn't the Seneca the entry level full-size Dodge in 1960? My brother owned one with the 225 c.i. slant-six and three speed column shifter.

Yes. "The first Dodge Darts were introduced for the 1960 model year.... the Dart line was offered in three trim levels: the basic Seneca, mid-range Pioneer, and premium Phoenix." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Dart#First_generation_(1960-1961)

Excellent video, however, you'll find the 1949 Dodge was equipped with a Fluid Drive transmission. Only Plymouth had the 3-speed manual.

@@American.legends Some times I ramble..Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler used Fluid Drive since 1941. Powerflite was introduced very late in the 1953 model year and was used thru 1956, other than in Adventurer, Chrysler and Imperial when Torqueflite was introduced mid-1956, and became available thru the line-up in 1957. Interestingly, Powerflite remained available in Plymouth and Dodge thru 1960 as did the flathead 6.

The 1960 Dodge segment at minute 9:42 shows that this video is most likely an AI "mistaken" fabrication. That's because my parents had a 1960 Dodge station wagon. It looked like the sedans in this video, but the wagon portrayed was from the much earlier "Forward Look" Chrysler line. Just how much rewritten and falsified "history" has to be inflicted on younger generations, and to what eventual end? Be afraid, be very afraid, if this minutiae of detail is also fabricated!

I’ll always prefer Dodge’s oddball 1961 Phoenix convertible over the lower tier Polara. The reverse fins made it a stand out but it was never popular and production only lasted a year.
