The sadist part of werewolf the apocalypse is that we are now vary unlikely to see another game with such a unique werewolf mechanics because this game makes it look like something nobody would play and that's such a crime! This game looked so damn awesome and I always want more werewolf games to match the abundant amount of vampire games...but now we will and have seen even less now.

You missed Too Human. That was a game with an awful story, riddled with bugs, but it had a very cool and unique combat system which was actually fun to play when it didn't jank out on you. It was also made by a company, Silicon Knights, who failed to pay licensing fees/royalties to Epic for the use of the Unreal Engine 3 (same as Gears of War and many others of the late 2000's), so they never made a sequel of this game which was supposed to be a trilogy from jump. They were sued into oblivion and all remaining copies of the game were pulled from shelves, so the only ones you can get now are second-hand. I played the crap out of it, despite it being so bad.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse being mediocre makes me so mad because I want a good game where you play as a badass werewolf but the combat being stale, the stealth being barebones, and the story being shallow makes not only the game but also the idea bad because now I don't think anyone will take a shot at it. I was practically raised on Werewolf: The Apocalypse. As someone who owns all the books from the original game form the '90s, I can say Earthblood nails the visual and audio style of that game perfectly. Shame it does the bare minimum with gameplay and story telling. But if you really want a great WtA game, go look up Heart of the Forest. It's more akin to a Telltale style, chose your own adventure. But it's very rich in immersive storytelling and the oppressive atmosphere the World of Darkness is known for. Which is what Werewolf was at its core: a storytelling game first. Action RPG second.

Yeah, an open-world game where some kind of event happens across different parts of it, and you have to replay it and film different parts to put the story together and solve the mystery... it's an absolutely incredible idea on paper. Glad to see number one. I have always thought the idea of a survival horror that changed depending on what you filmed and would skip parts of the game when dying or running out of battery to pick up in another tense scenario would be really interesting. I know Echo didn't receive a lot of praise, but it does do some more of the adaptive AI people have always wanted. Though I hear it doesn't amount to more than go loud during the first half of the day, stealth at night, then alternate each day and you do just fine. The AI will only change it's playstyle based on one part of the day and it only changes whether they come at you or counter stealth.

Yeah werewolf apocalypse, combat was werewolf was floaty, the story was not bad but not great, and direwolf form was so under utilized. They should have direwolf stealth skills and made him useful. But all did was sneak around, but you had shift back to human to do anything, open door, push button on elevator. Made wolf form so useless. It’s not bad game at least for story. But rest was so meh. Werewolf The Apocalypse Earthblood is like a good 360 game, imo. Treat it like that and it's at least way better than Vampire The Masquerade Swansong. It has a checkpoint system and stuff. Just a shame it came out in the PS4/Xbone gen, and not long before PS5, iirc. Seriously, I rented both from GameFly and Werewolf was enjoyable when I treated it like a 360 title.
@madmaniac36028 ай бұрын
I didn't mind Apocalypse Earthblood. Can't say it's worth buying because it lacks polish on both the stealth and combat sides of the spectrum and fails to deliver that power trip of actually BEING A F*CKIN WEREWOLF and instead it genuinely is just a lot of swatting aimlessly at random groups of enemies. (Great if we we're looking at a much older title like Skyrim but this is a relatively fresh game. Plus the human to wolf transformation in stealth mode is interesting but ultimately pointless.

Michigan: Report From Hell - is very poorly explained. Yes, it’s a bad game, but because it’s a weird idea not because it’s badly made. It’s all about voyeurism in the media - do you help people or do you just film what horrible things happen to them, including your own reporters. Each reporter is different, and they’re all attractive women unless you burn through too many and then you get a guy. You can turn the story more voyueristic by filming people dying, or you can help people (which the reporter criticizes). You can even upskirt or down blouse the reporter to go for the perve ending. Such a weird game, but almost by design.
