10 BARRELS IN ONE SESSION!!! - Mind Blowing Surf at Perfect Beach Break - So Cal

I loved those offshore winds howling in SoCal during the Santa Ana winds. I had my best surfing of my life for about 7 days straight during October 2007 when there was a combo swell and serious offshore winds which made every wave hold up so long that they barreled and I can see the texture of the waves of this video is the same. The wind was so strong that longboarders couldn’t catch the waves as the wind blew them off the face of the wave. I’m a bodyboarder low to the water and aerodynamic and I was able to catch the waves. The garbage cans on the beach were all blowing over and sand would spray you in the line-up that came fifty yards off the beach because of the high winds. Unfortunately my best surfing that week was bittersweet as the Santa Ana winds brought wildfires and 2,000 homes in Orange county and 3,000 homes in San Diego county were burned. The sun was obscured by smoke and it was a large orange ball. The air was acrid and it made my breathing so hard that it hurt. I will never forget the amazingly fun time that was scarred by such loss to so many folks. I remember also seeing pictures of amazing surf in New Jersey during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center buildings on fire. It’s a surreal emotion that is rare to experience. Not to compare what I experienced to the New York/America tragedy, but it’s a feeling I will never forget and I am sure that the surfers in New Jersey felt the same. I am so happy that this surfer who posted these fun waves got to get the stoke of a lifetime and especially without the bittersweet tragedies.
