@@VileStormsAnother great one is specifically the Rosewood grocery store because it comes with an attached laundromat and rooftop access. Easy to defend as there is only 1 window wall and it even has a garage door out back.

The house in the middle of the woods near Muldraugh (with the well) is really great if you'd like to build your own base. Perfect to add onto and farm + you will never encounter any zombies + infinite water

The general store at 5:33 is one of my best base locations. It has a nice apartment on the upper floor. Plenty of storage space. It has a gas station close by, a fishing shop that comes with two large water barrels. A small restaurant and picnic area with BBQ. A toilet group with parking lot. And a river. There are not that many zombies around. And it's a bit far from the action. But it's perfect if you want a relaxed game of leveling, building, farming and fishing. And it sometimes spawns as a survivor house. Meaning it's already half barricaded and filled with good loot if you're lucky.

My favorite Louisville base is the apartment above the office for rent south of American Tire and the large central park. It's close to a bookstore, Gigamart, police station, garden store, a MALL, two gas stations, and medical supplies. The garden center had pre-built rain barrls for easy farming in the fenced animal exercise area. The woods to the park are a short walk away for all your lumber needs.

I love the radio station near Riverside but depending on your sandbox settings I also like setting up on that bar/motel/post office area in Riverside. There's enough trees nearby to cover the whole area in log walls. I like to play with zombie damage to player construction off because there's no middle ground so I can set up a big stretch of land fairly safely and get water from the for crops and drinking and fish from the river for eating. There's plenty of parking spaces for vehicles and even for making a garage.

Thats a great location, I've also found that really annoying how zombies seem to be overly attracted to player built items.

I like setting up in the yacht club, just wall off the big windowed room and you can have the kitchen, lockers and the top floor. Personally I just play with zombie respawn off, then once you murder all the zombies it doesn’t matter if they can damage player construction or not

Rosewood, just outside of town (traveling east to March Ridge), you'll find a couple of houses, south of the highway. This is a great out of the way place for new players, or introducing your friends to the game. Once you clear the few zombies in the area, you can start to build up your skills, set up some farming, yet, you are still close enough to town for gas, looting, or killing zeds, yet, you're still close enough to home, which is relatively safe (as long as you don't bring home too many strays). Again, I consider this more for a casual player, or bringing in your friends without forcing them to know 'everything' the minute they log in for the first time. If it's too slow, you can always move closer to the city. Everyone's got a different playstyle. To me, this provides a chance to explore your options, until you find your particular way of gaming. Whether it's base building, looting, combat, or more simple tasks such as farming/cooking/tailoring, the zombie threat usually isn't too high, so long as you regularly patrol the area, or eventually fence it in. Not a 'location' but a trick I often do when I am a fresh start. Usually, without a vehicle, or even a decent sized bag, it's tough to gather all of the items you'll want to eventually bring home. After looting a couple of houses, my weight gets too high, rather than just 'leaving' these things to maybe, eventually, possibly come back for... Just pile up stuff in the driveway close to the road. If you have some garbage bags, they are great for this. Eventually, you'll get a vehicle, and you can then drive back down the road, and collect the 'garbage' to bring back to your base. It's probably not the best idea for multiplaying, unless you are confident that the stuff will be there the next day, but if you are playing as 'friends' you can get some to loot, and some to load up, and transport back to base. I offer this suggestion, because of all of the YT playthroughs, I see people leaving good stuff behind, when just a little bit of effort means that stuff will eventually make it back home.

so some other base locations ive use is the Train Yard at the quarantine zone i was able to fortify it within a day and survive there for 3 months, another base location is (if your quick enough before the zeds get too thick) is the Scarlet Oak Distillery, in my friends multiplayer server me and a few buds took shotguns to the place and cleared it out, its a great location for being IN louisville, fortifying the back and front gates and having the parking lot be a personal wrecking yard for my fleet of 4 trucks it pays its self off in abundance of loot and is near a foraging zone and on the river

The mechanic spot just south of West Point is also quite nice. We made stairs to the rooftop, to garden up there, and there's lots of forest & a river nearby.

Me and my brother just played our first game of Zomboid and used the gated community as our base. Was great.

I'm using that same hardware store in west point. Since I started there it looked like best place to setup a base. Lots of space, room to sleep and kitchen on 2nd floor, bottom floor can be used as storage space, parking for dozen of vehicles, wood for building... really good place.

I've always enjoyed the American Tire just East of West Point. It's just outside of town, and I think right on the boarder of spawning zones so the zomboid pop is a bit lower than the rest of West Point. Takes a bit of work to get secure, but has a good amount of space and a 2 spot garage to keep your car safe. Gas station, storage lots, Gigamart, and the river (the jammed bridge) are all rather close by.

The Mounted Police Training barracks in the bottom left corner in the Louisville park is a great location! The building has an enclosed courtyard where you can work on cars and farm in safety. Put your generator in the middle of the courtyard and Zeds won’t hear it. The building has access on one side only with 4 windows and an archway big enough for a double gate for your cars too. The building has bunk beds, lockers, a bathroom, 2 storage rooms with crates and shelves, an office and a small armory. You can turn the office into a kitchen very easily. There are houses on a cul-de-sac nearby and there is an antique stove in the park’s visitor center on the opposite corner of the park. There are many great locations within walking distance such as, two gas stations, a garden center, a garage, a tire store, a pawn shop, a small bookshop, a police station, animal vet/shelter, a small mall, and a big Gigamart. The park has a lot of high fences around it in places, so hordes of Zeds don’t migrate in, and a lot of the houses around the park have garages. In fact some of the neighborhoods have streets with only garages! Since the park is in the center of Louisville, you can drive to other loot points easily.

HEAR ME OUT! This is one I always up up at, even if only to setup a FOB. Jim's Autoshop, Louisville. Apart from the obvious advantages of 3 extra large garage bay doors, and the tools available off the bar..... it is next to two unbreakable fenced in greenspaces. By barricading one set of double doors, you are perfectly safe within that greenspace. The back lot of Jim's Autoshop also has an unbreakable fence surrounding the cement pad. The second floor is the storage, and a door leading out to the lower roof. One set of stairs later and you have access to both roofs. It is surrounded by lots of goodies.... The Animal Hospital, A knife factory (for metal loot), Secure Storage (lots of nice furniture/generators), a bar, a potato factory :) and a warehouse stuffed to the gills with construction/tools loot. AND? THERES MORE! The Ready Prep Army Surplus !!! To me, it is the perfect base for LV.... and taking the time to block off a few of the streets (leaving only 1 direction to defend from when you make noise driving) it becomes possible to play the game entirely in Jim's + the greenspace right there. S Tier Base.

At 5:32 you showed my favorite base (the general store). Very low pop, very large second story living areas and near water for easy fishing and farming. Vehicle required, however.

I like to use the southeastern most house in Muldraugh as my base. Within a group of houses below gated community. It has a really low/almost non-existent zombie population and it is close to everything.

Rosewood Prison, it has only one entrance, just enough space for all the loot, and with single airlock it can become theoreticaly invincible base as entrance will be out of reality bubble when you are at kitchen area.

Its the perfect spot for a newer player, i recommend you spawn in river side for the best chances of getting out of the town. If you try and get a car with fuel you can high tail it out of there really quick

Go to zomboid map project look top right Louisville and then move over to the right along the river you will find a civil war base with absolutely no zomboids around it. It has double metal gates, barred windows and it has three floors if u have a sledge. Could host at least 20 people

Currently doing this with friends and it has maybe 20 zomboids inside, given this space is almost the size of rosewood prison it is completely underutilized, amazing for those who collect modded cars and large enough for 1000 crops unreal

My old fav place to setup was the whole foods in the centre of downtown Westpoint. Pretty much I’d wall off the entire block, make the tall office building my main base, and use the small green space for farming. The parking space is huge, and it’s easy to make high up walk ways between buildings! Edit: Also yes there’s tons of zombies, but if you want to challenge yourself go for it! (One time a horde walked through and I ended up having to kill 600 of em without multihit)

The base I go back to over and over is the two story bar with a balcony on the river in Riverside. It's the easiest location on the map, apart from going to the middle of the woods and just ... being in the woods forever.Try it, it has everything in walking distance except maybe a sledgie.

@@VileStorms we are using the existing building ATM, gotten a farm up and running, we are tho extremely cursed when it comes to finding a sledgehammer and a generator operating mag (we have checked the post office, bookstore and school in riverside no luck) so if we don’t find that mag our cars are gonna die at some point, we do tho have 6 or 7 full gas cans tho. On another note, I found that one of the makeshift radios and 2 of the computers panels are bugged and can only be removed with a sledgehammer… yeay ._.

@@CoverCode Oh yes I noticed that too with the radios lol. You might want to try looking in gas station magazine racks and mailboxes for the generator magazine, they often spawn there! Best of luck on finding that elusive sledgie though. They are a slippery beast to track down!

@@CoverCode Maybe plan a trip to another town to loot the schools, post office, book stores, warehouses etc. Find a safe house in the other town you can spend one or two nights in if you have to. I regularly have this problem with the generator magazine. Often have to skip town to find it. That's why i play as a electrician most of the time. It's not the optimal profession, but it can give you a great head start if you play smart. I mostly have all my electric work done and 3 double ice fridges full of fresh food around day 7 before the power shuts down everything spoils. This means i don't have to worry about food for a couple months at least. And i can really do something with the cooking skill. It also gives me more time to focus on other stuff after the first week. I have been able to do the same with other character builds, but it was really hard and stressful to find the magazine and level the electric skill in time. Had to skip on some live and living episodes to be able to make it.

It may not be the best, but it is a great location imo. Tons of tools, a forest just across the road for gathering planks, in Muldraugh which has lots of loot that isn’t too hard to get like West Point. A solid thing to do is to demolish the waist height walls on the roof (they aren’t walls but more brick fences) and build a window with sheet rope and demolish the stairs. Then you have all the hardware loot you could need below you in spitting distance. You can use a wood axe if you find one and the trees on the other side of main road to expand the roof as much as you want. You can do all this with other places, and probably better, but this is a personal favourite of mine.

I based there in my last play. It's pretty good actually if you like some action. The apartment upstairs is nice. And the gas station is also handy across the street. Almost everything close by. Only farming, fishing and trapping is a problem in the area. But great to have as a safe house within the city.
