Your pronounciation is great! Finland is a bilingual country (Finnish and Swedish), although native Swedish speakers are in the minority, all children are taught Swedish in school and most places have both Finnish and Swedish names. I myself grew up in a bilingual home where we spoke both Finnish and Swedish.

I’m originally from mainland Finland but for the last 20 years i have lived on the Åland Islands. The reason why this place is part of Finland is that some 100 years ago there was disagreement with Sweden who should have the Islands and the League Of Nations (predecessor to the UN) decided it should be Finland but that Åland should be demilitarised and have autonomy in running their affairs. I really love it here. I live in a cabin near to our own beach near the mouth of a bay with a view of endless islands out in the sea. Great video.

7:07 Koli National Park is located mostly in a municipality/town called Lieksa. Having grown and went to schools in the town, Koli hasn't ever been that far. Happy that you seem enjoy the views.

Summer in Finland is great anywhere. Winter in Southern Finland these days is cold, rainy and dark. I'm fine with it, and can appreciate the inherent comedy, but it's not a tourist destination.

@@shahinreacts we do have autumn and spring, but those are too wet and cold.

@@shahinreacts Finland has 4 seasons, and my favorites are spring and autumn. Spring comes late but may is a great month with the fresh new flowers and small leaves in the trees. Autumn is crisp and beautiful with all the colors, forests full of berries and wild mushrooms... but it ends quite soon when the darker months arrive in October. October and November are perhaps the "worst" months, already quite cold, but no snow yet, it rains a lot etc. Winter is nice but unfortunately often too warm nowadays so southern Finland doesn't usually get that much snow, which makes it darker. Summer is of course many people's favorite but sometimes a bit too warm nowadays for my taste and I hate bugs lol.

I see, this commented video was made by somebody from Mikkeli. :'D However: Pulkkilanharju is the road I take my foreign visitors to my summer cottage. It's awesome. Olavinlinna castle is great in its unusual situation, but I would put first the Suomenlinna (Sveaborg/Viapori) fortress. It's a very interesting target in both historical, cultural and military points.

An insulin vial that lasts for a month costs 113$. One vial of human insulin costs $2.28-$3.42 to produce. In Finland you get 5 vials for 5 euros. The average cost of purchasing your own health insurance is US$456 per month for unsubsidised individuals in the USA. My Finnish insurance is 100€/year. The average cost of college attendance at any 4-year institution is $35,331. On top of that the inequality is really high in the USA, so a lot of people can't even afford medication for life threatening diseases. So move there if you want to pay less taxes ;) I wanna keep paying high taxes to collectively help Finnish people live a better life.

I cannot recommend anyone to go to Finland. If the weather is right, it's bearable at best but usually nothing more. The society has gone wicked beyond belief. You can get shot or arrested literally for speaking. Go to Sweden instead.

Åland was bit misspelled there tho, it's the swedish name for it, but i know all these different letters in finnish/swedish/norwegian/danish arent that well found on the keyboard (and i dont even want to mention icelandic) .. in finnish it is ahvenanmaa. altho i manytimes talk about oolanti when talking finnish
