When I first started playing bass it seemed like every beginner bass line had to be cheesy for it to be for a beginner. I just wanted to share some bass lines that I have learned when I started playing that were pretty fun!

Completely useless for a beginner. Can’t see most of the notes and even at slow speed you can’t really keep up. Intermediate maybe, beginner thumbs down.

Dig it! I’m a guitar player and have owned a bass for a few years but hardly ever play it except to play a couple root notes on some home recordings. I spend about an hour playing your first couple lines. What a blast. Thanks!

Bruh, these riffs are real groovy, but I must be bass illiterate, cause I can't tell which strings you're playing on the neck of the bass let alone follow both screens at once... I'll have to come back...

As a beginner in the literal meaning of the term, not a beginner from another instrument, not a beginner who has learned the basics, but a true beginner, I find it a huge barrier that every bass teacher for beginners chooses songs that are too hard, or that only have an easy riff, but the rest of the song is impossible for a true beginner. Can we please start with a song which is slow and easy from beginning to end? Beginners need enough time to get their hands and fingers in position, figure out muting, play along in time and pick the stirngs properly. That is a ton to keep track of. A song please, that's slow, easy, just quarter notes, beginning to end. Not just riffs, not just intros, but a recognizable song easy enough that you could put a bass in the hands of someone who has never played an instrument, and can play along. I hope you take this to heart Travis.

I have a jazz bass learned ice ice baby years ago. lost interest because all the others lessons were cheesier or just not groovy enough to make the investment to learn consistently. Thank you so much. I don’t care what anyone says representation matters. God Bless you for taking the time to do this. I’m plugged in and about to get to it. This will keep me busy for sure. Let’s go 2024 = New beginnings
