@@astralpx same here! I've been a gigging guitar player for years. Discovered the groove with bass and loved it. Drums is like the feeling of the bass groove on steroids.

Steve, I have been watching you from the day you started on you tube. I used a lot of your teachings in my drum studio. I just stumbled on your interview with Ronnie Tutt April 11, 2013. That had to be an honor sitting down with him.

Thanks Stephen for all the great videos and the awesome way you present them! For anyone interested, Carmens last name is pronounced "A-Piece". At least that is how he introduced himself on a video I watched! But don't feel bad. I pronounced it "A-pe-che" for years until I heard him say his last name!

Stephen, thank you for your videos. I’ve shared them with my drum students and they have loved them! I was wondering if you ever do recitals for your drum students and how you do them? I teach guitar and piano also and struggling with how to make my drumset students be part of my recitals without blowing up everyone’s ears and also play on their own. My first idea is to have a small set and have them play to a backing tracks. Would love your feedback!

It's funny I don't get it whenever you do the slow part showing each individual part... Yet I can tell what I need to play when you play it in real time. My ADHD brain gets confused on all the numbers yet I can hear the time signatures in my head no problem...

@@StephenTaylorDrums I'm also left-handed, but learned how to play on a right handed setup kit. I thought about trying to flip my kit around to lefty and see what I could do, but it would probably be like me trying to ride a bicycle backwards.

"Beginner" is a broad term. It can be someone that has just started or someone that is borderline intermediate in skills. Start with the first song and try to master it. No matter how long it takes.

Guitar player here for 30 + years, drums have always intimidated me and all i was doing, like everybody else does the first time, was making noise. The last time i touched a drum set was more than 17 years ago, today was the day that i said, screw this, i'm getting a set and get at it. I am proud to say that at the age of 46, i am finally taming the drums, one session at the time. I need to remember; before running, i must learn to walk and before walking, i must learn to crawl. Thank you Stephen for the tips and advices, you got a new subcriber!!

@Melanie G Age is just an excuse. As i said, i've always been intimidated by the instrument. So in the past i always shy away from it. Now i am at this point in life that i don't care anymore of what people say and think of my playing, same goes with guitars which remains my main instrument
