Excellent tips, when I was a noob 10 years ago at 51, I didn’t understand much. Electrolytes and hydration for one. I remember getting to camp with crazy cramps, fingers, toes, legs, everywhere. Looking back, dangerous. I also didn’t understand trekking poles. I carried them, never used. 3rd and last idiot thing. I carried 3 liters of water walking next to a river the entire hike to camp. I could go on…. 😅

Hey it’s what we all have done. Really how would have any of us known this before we started hiking. I cannot hike any distance without electrolytes so I’m with you on that

Good tips. I learned while segment hiking , take snacks, plenty of water along with electrolytes. I know what I need by just listening to my body. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you and I feel bringing enough water & snacks is a given but yes I agree that listening to your body is very important.. thanks for watching and the nice message.

Excellent tips! Once I tried trekking poles, I've never gone back. They've saved me numerous times from falling and bonus for me is my hands don't swell up when hiking. I also never day hike without my garmin. You never know when you might be in a bad cell zone. I bought it for the PCT, but also take it on van trips too. It's a must have for me.🌻

Fantastic thumbnail. Great photo👌🏻😎. And telling someone where you are going is huge in case something happens. Trailhead and direction of travel.

Thank you for another informative video. I am still most comfortable with my map and compass, but have an iReach Messager. I am trying out a few apps. Great tips, it was so long ago that I started hiking and backpacking that I hardly remember most of these lessons. I have finally dialed in my backpacking gear and find other than clothes I only have to replace gear that is worn out. Thank you again for taking the time to create this video. ❤😊

I was wondering something since you are a REI employee.. can they permanently ban someone from returning gear ? I am a member and they emailed me saying I have too many returns so they are banning me from returning anything I buy as of November 6th. I bought a few things this year that I returned but didn’t use. Took them home and tried them on , a manager recommended me to do that , mostly all the gear I returned was brand new never used.

@@valeriefromoregon hello I’m actually not sure because I’m not in the returns department but I’ve had a friends years ago say they told her she couldn’t for awhile because she had basically returned everything she had purchased for awhile but she wasn’t permanently banned. You should ask if it’s possible the next time you’re in your store.

@@MarmaladeOutdoors I would probably wait for the iPhone 17 next September.
@MarmaladeOutdoors
@MarmaladeOutdoors Ай бұрын
@SteffenThomsen why is that? They have been significantly upgrading the phones and their cameras every two years on the even numbers so for example I have a 15 which had a big upgrade and supposedly the 16 does as well. Is that not correct? Why should I wait?
@SteffenThomsen
@SteffenThomsen Ай бұрын
@@MarmaladeOutdoors The iPhone 16 should have been called the iPhone 15s as they used to do. It really wasn't much of an upgrade this year.
