I started at 15, many moons ago. I didn't have a name for it but I loved the FEELING. Less chaos, more me, more time for doing things outside and my hobbies of drawing, photography and reading. I also had time to help animals. I still do these things, 30 years later. It does ebb and flow with life and I have been various versions of a minimalist. I am currently heading to the more extreme side again and I love it! :)

Thank you for your message and I'm impressed that you already started this journey at such a young age. It's really nice to hear that it gave you time and you could focus on the things that matter to you. Helping animals. 💛So much respect to you. And yes I can imagine that it changes and ebb and flow over time, it's a continuous journey of what fits best at that time/situation.

It's nuts how much the things you talk and used to stress about, I can relate to so much. Your channel is very inspiring and makes me feel less alone.

I'm really so happy to hear that. It means a lot to me to hear that you can resonate with a lot of what I'm sharing and that it makes you feel less alone. I know the feeling, in my physical environment I don't know anyone who is a minimalist so I'm happy to connect online with like minded spirits :)

I am not as extreme as you. I like my cozy chair and my books! And that's okay. What helped me was getting very clear on who I am and living according to my values. Understanding what I value most helps me make the most of my resources (time & money). I buy only what I need and do not view myself as a "consumer". Instead I look at the value I bring to others and the value things that enter my home bring me.
@AnjasArtWorld3 жыл бұрын
I really appreciate your view on minimalism and yourself and the value you can bring to others instead of just being a consumer. I totally resonate with you. It's also why I stated this minimalism journey and also why I go this far in it. Getting clear on who you are and your values is the most important thing in the world.

Thank you so much for your kinds words, it means a lot to me. Also, it's so nice to hear from you and knowing there are like minded people who also enjoy minimalism and especially the more extreme minimalism lifestyle, so thanks for letting me know :) Personally I don't know anyone in my surrounding who lives this way. So sometimes this journey can seem alone/strange/different. I don't know if you have the same experience. I just really love extreme minimalism and what it can offer and how it can give you more quality of life.

Wel leuk dat je gewoon eerlijk vertelt hoe je gehecht was aan dingen en merken voordat je minimalistisch was. :) Veel minimalisten zijn hier niet eerlijk over. :)
@AnjasArtWorld3 жыл бұрын

Thanks for sharing your story 💛 And I'm sorry to hear you had to go through the same things. I know, society often views children as a piece of clay that they can mold into a form that they think would be 'good' instead of viewing children and actually people in general as individual entities with their own thoughts, needs and feelings and also with their own guiding systems. Minimalism was a good tool for me to get some clarity and create space for my own feelings and thoughts

What do you do with old phones, laptops, old camera's? All those sensitive privacy stuff. Would love to hear your opinion on this
@AnjasArtWorld4 жыл бұрын
Yes, those are complicated things, privacy is very important. The last couple of years I just leave them at a special recycle place. I put my setting back to fabric and try to take off everything from the device, though I know that is not enough. I just don't feel like the information on my devices is so important or holds something that would be dangerous for me. I change my passwords and that is it. I do know that we have special stores where they will professionally clear out your devices. And I also know someone who takes out the hard drives and smashes it into little pieces with a hammer and recycles the rest ;) so that is always an option if you don't want to take any risk :)

There is no such thing as a "highly sensitive person". People who consider themselves "highly sensitive" are just normal people who have never learned to focus on one thing while blocking out other things.... It might sound like the same thing to you-but it actually makes a huge difference in overcoming this issue....
