cobes Ψ agreed, but the explanation here makes sense. Arod really had the best career, regardless of roids his production was still there. Plus he is one of the greatest third baseman’s of all time as a fielder too, Griffey was a great outfielder but was mostly known for his swing. It’s definitely a hard choice, but I don’t think arod even needed the steroids to succeed. That’s what he took when he got injured later in his career, that is really what helped him mostly at the end. But yeah Griffey is probably a more realistic choice here

As great as A-Rod is stats wise, he wasn’t the culture changer Griffey was.

Ken Griffey Jr is easily the best #1 pick of all time not just because of the PED situation with A-Rod, but he saved baseball in Seattle. A-Rod rode Junior's coattails in Seattle, went to Texas and put up historic numbers for a crappy team, and went to New York, only to become 2nd fiddle to Jeter (I know he's better than Jeter but if he performed more admirably in the playoffs, then there would be no issue). From the beginning of his career to his 5th year in Cincinnati, it was the Ken Griffey Jr. show.

Marc, yes A-Rod has better stats than Griffey. However Griffey is so ridicicously close to every single stat. Also, he is that close and he did his whole career clean and with injuries. You said it yourself numbers don't lie what if Griffey was healthy he would have had 2,000+ RBI's, easily 3,00 hits, and easily 700+ home runs. To top it all off, Griffey is also a top 3 defensive center fielder of all time, great range, great arm, and the plays he made were so athletic. He also ran better than A-Rod by a lot, Griffey stole some bases here and there. A-Rod hitting wise, it slightly better than Griffey but Griffey did his whole career clean, A-Rod took roids, and Griffey is arguable the best defensive center fielder of all time, AND almost everyone agrees that Griffey has one of if not the sweetest and best swing of all time. That is why Griffey is better than A-Rod.

i think the worse thing to happen to him was being drafted by the twins. back when he broke in the league the twins played small ball. i think if someone else would have got him 1. they would have moved him away from catcher 2. told him try and hit for more power we can live with a .300 avg. joe could have played any position on the baseball field he was just that talented and it would have made him even greater than he already was.

I would loved to have seen an honorable mention category... It's hard to believe Gerrit Cole and Josh Hamilton weren't listed

Great list, Marc though you could have flipped #1 and #2 and people would still agree with you. Also, the 90's Mariners had three (maybe 4) generational talents yet couldn't make a world series.....
