@Matthew Rider he really only had 1 bad year defensively. He is know for hustling and diving all over the field so idk what you mean by calling him lazy. Ig not running out a pop up once in a while? But yes he is prone to outbreaks but go watch video of him getting ejected, he's usually in the right

cobes Ψ agreed, but the explanation here makes sense. Arod really had the best career, regardless of roids his production was still there. Plus he is one of the greatest third baseman’s of all time as a fielder too, Griffey was a great outfielder but was mostly known for his swing. It’s definitely a hard choice, but I don’t think arod even needed the steroids to succeed. That’s what he took when he got injured later in his career, that is really what helped him mostly at the end. But yeah Griffey is probably a more realistic choice here

It was a special moment because I was now an adult. I stood up a clapped for him when he pinched hit in the 9th inning. I have huge respect for this player. I saw A rod too in Fenway as a Mariner. I can understand why you put A-Rod at 1, and I think it’s a toss up between him and Griffey, but I think Griffey is number one because of the impact he had on culture. He was ICONIC. The backwards hat joke run derby, the sweet swing, the flare he brought to the field, the acrobatic catches he’d make... he inspired this generation of ball players. As great as A-Rod is stats wise, he wasn’t the culture changer Griffey was.

Ken Griffey Jr is easily the best #1 pick of all time not just because of the PED situation with A-Rod, but he saved baseball in Seattle. A-Rod rode Junior's coattails in Seattle, went to Texas and put up historic numbers for a crappy team, and went to New York, only to become 2nd fiddle to Jeter (I know he's better than Jeter but if he performed more admirably in the playoffs, then there would be no issue). From the beginning of his career to his 5th year in Cincinnati, it was the Ken Griffey Jr. show.

The strange part I remember is Wade Boggs coming up to bat for the Devil Rays. We noticed his baseball pants were tighter than most players so we chanted out “ Hey Butt Cheeks!” He heard it most likely we were only 20 feet away. That’s the story of Butt Cheeks Boggs.

The fact that Griffey and A Rod have nearly identical numbers but missed half a career due to injury, meanwhile A Rod needed roids, is why Griffey is better.

Griffey had a bigger impact on the game of baseball and put Seattle on the map. A-Roid put up numbers, but was known as a diva, hated by almost everybody, and won a championship while taking PEDs. The only thing that makes me happy is that Jeter gets most of the credit for the Yankees 2009 World Series win. Cardinals fan btw.

Griffey is a definite legend...mini goat...it helped that another great Ichiro was batting leadoff...ARod was great also...dominant numbers for a lonnggg time...he didn't get the injury bug like McGwire did...Strasburg could easily be in the top 5 with another strong 4-5 years...Price is undervalued in whole (contract was too big though)...if it wasn't for Price having a Cy type year followed by a horrible year like 3 times then he'd be higher on this list

Those top 3 are tough to separate. But I agree with A-Rod as 1 and that's coming from a Boston fan. I really like him and Papi together as analysts

Funny thing: I like Topps Bunt. I had fun with it for a while. But I got so mad when I realized I was locked out of my Guest account collection after a phone transfer that I didn't go back. So... I don't know, maybe I'll give it another shot.

Marc, yes A-Rod has better stats than Griffey. However Griffey is so ridicicously close to every single stat. Also, he is that close and he did his whole career clean and with injuries. You said it yourself numbers don't lie what if Griffey was healthy he would have had 2,000+ RBI's, easily 3,00 hits, and easily 700+ home runs. To top it all off, Griffey is also a top 3 defensive center fielder of all time, great range, great arm, and the plays he made were so athletic. He also ran better than A-Rod by a lot, Griffey stole some bases here and there. A-Rod hitting wise, it slightly better than Griffey but Griffey did his whole career clean, A-Rod took roids, and Griffey is arguable the best defensive center fielder of all time, AND almost everyone agrees that Griffey has one of if not the sweetest and best swing of all time. That is why Griffey is better than A-Rod.

The difference between ARod's career WAR and Chipper Jones (number 2 by WAR barely over Jr.) is basically Harold Baines's career lol

Hmm, looking at these numbers which are closer than I thought, factoring his post-season numbers, consistency and durability, a case could be made for Chipper to be #1.

i think the worse thing to happen to him was being drafted by the twins. back when he broke in the league the twins played small ball. i think if someone else would have got him 1. they would have moved him away from catcher 2. told him try and hit for more power we can live with a .300 avg. joe could have played any position on the baseball field he was just that talented and it would have made him even greater than he already was.
