Thank you very much; this video was very informative. As a person that has lived with cats for many years, here is some hopefully helpful information. First (and, to me, most important): PLEASE don't just "let your cat out". If your cat is "given access to the outside", as this video calls it, PLEASE let it be where they're in an enclosed space, like a screened-in area, and not just let out the door.. Second, a fountain: they're not cheap. If they're happy drinking water out of bowls, and you keep them clean, you may want to think twice about a fountain. A cat just might ignore it. Third, cat grass: just get one, and a non-plant one (meaning just grass with roots packed in a small container) to see if they want to chew on it. Then, if they ignore it, you're only out a little money. Fourth, Toys: Cats seem to like little toys with feathers on them, that are tied to a string, where the string is attached to the end of a semi-rigid plastic wand. They love jumping after the toy! Fifth, laser beam toys: most cats love chasing the dot, but be careful not to shine it in their eyes. Also, after a while, put the laser toy away and play with them with something they can catch (like the toy in the fourth note). Hope this helps. 🐱

no - the best situation is to let your cat roam free. my opinion is that you shouldn’t have a cat if free-roaming is not practical (e.g. if you live near a main road).
@schnertblatt2 жыл бұрын
@@oliverharvey7561 With all due respect, Oliver, let's agree to disagree on this one. Cats are predators but they're also prey. Also they can get hurt free-roaming. It's been proven that pet cats that are kept indoors (or taken outdoors and put in nice spacious enclosures for them) live longer. 😺
@oliverharvey75612 жыл бұрын
yes - ultimately it’s a philosophical choice - i’m a kind of “free spirit” kind of person. As cat owners we make thier choices for them - my cat lives her life to the full - but i am aware that if she dies in the road there are huge implications for my conscience.

@@oliverharvey7561 I live in an apartment in an urban environment. There's no way I could let our cats out. My cousin, who lives in a semi-rural environnement, has a really nice huge enclosure that they put their cats in. 👍🏻😺

A very comfy computer to sleep on when it gets cold, a human lap to sleep on when there's need of petting and treats, that yummy thing my Babycakes knows I hide away cause she's a thief who wants to eat only treats instead of kibble.

Please try not to use plastic water bowls, they cause cats to get acne under their chins. It's hard to get rid of. Use ceramic or metal water bowls instead.

"If your cat has access to the outside" Okay, most of this I agreed with, but like....Yikes. If your cat has access to the outside please be sure it's through a safe method like a catio or harness training, not just letting them roam where they please. It's a danger t both the cat and the local wildlife.
