FYI Nico does not sing Sunday Morning. It's sung by Lou Reed, who is trying to sound like a girl. He was trying to prove they didn't need Nico in the band.

Nice show. Just because there are not a zillion likes for someone’s contest doesn’t mean the collecting thing is dying. To many contests and top whatever’s can become boring. The greatest ever debut album by a solo artist, Laura Nyro's 'More Than a New Discovery', spawning 4 major hits including And When I Die, Wedding Bell Blues, Stoney End and Blowin' Away. The album is honoured in the Grammy Hall of Fame. Nyro wrote the songs aged 16, recorded it when she was 18. A genius level singer/songwriter. She performed at Monterey Pop aged 19, in between The Byrds and Jefferson Airplane. Her 1968 and 1969 albums are mindblowing - songwriting so far ahead of the game.

The VCs dieing is it? I wouldn't know I do my own thing. I don't come out of my VC cave that often Pat... 67 was an incredible year for music. Van Morrison has my fav Van song on his 1967 album Blowin' Your Mind, TB Sheets the songs called. Astral weeks was in 67 too, that one's a MONSTER. In 1967 kids got introduced to the Blues with Albert Kings Born Under A Bad Sign, that would be in there for me. Electric music for The Mind by Country Joe and Days of Future passed were in 67 too. Music for your head. Groovin' by The Young Rascals is a fav album of mine from 67. I can't quibble with your choices except maybe the Velvet Underground album. I'm not a Nico fan... In 67 R&B was dead, bubblegum shit was on the wane and goody two shoes pop singles were getting replaced by some hard core rock. The AM radio station directors weren't afraid to play it anymore. We didn't have a FM rock station until 69.... I'll tell you a funny story about that Hendrix are you experienced album. In 1967 when that album came out we chopped up an ounce of Speed on it with a razor blade. Speed had lots of crystals in it back then. The Purple dye came off the album and made the speed a purpley mauve color. We hit it or sold it anyhow. LOL.. I ran into a guy at my Bar 8 or 9 years ago and somehow the conversation ended up about the great drugs of the 60s. The dude mentioned one time doing the best speed in his life and the color of it was purple. LOL... Yep he bought that speed off of us some 50 years ago. We had quite the laugh when I told him why the speed was purple... LOL.. Come to think of it it might of been in 68 that purple speed not 67. I wasn't hitting in 67, I was in 68... yeah the summer of Love 1967. It was a very good year let me tell you. There was a different vibe going on. It didn't last long though. Charly Manson and Altamont killed that in 69, we lost our innocence....

wonderful choice and i agree with all but one,now this is only my opinion but the world of rock in 1967 embraced all these records all were number ones ,except one, aretha franklin,in 67 the music scene was busting wide open and if you were young and hip and white you listened to rock and psych,i never bought or listened to , and neither did anyone else i knew listen to aretha's music,it was not played on cool underground stations,it just wasn't, now in the decades since we realize what a mistake that was, musicians listened to her and otis redding, but the rock world of white teens did not if you doubt me go watch the film on woodstock and see how many people of color make up the audience, how many african american bands played there. so the impact arthea had on music in 67 was limited.i would have added moody blues days of future past instead ,because it like the doors , hendrix, velvet underground, cream and beatles changed and influenced rock for at least the next few years till around 71, my favorite was traffic's first in all its forms. ,i simply loved that record,as much today as in 67.also all those bands played around multiple times live in LA,except the beatles of course.this was a great list and yes i still don,t own that aretha album haha but after your review i,ll look for it, and im not saying she was not worthy, clearly she was ,but in 67,the doors first was a debut like no other ,it was played everywhere, and the long version of light my fire is still powerful.i loved 1967,you just tapped on it but it was a giant year,i will say one thing ,thinking back a lot of blues bands played on bills, black blues bands, so maybe im all screwed up in my history of those years,i had a job at a factory and one night my black co worker was singing mo town so i started singing cream ,ect he was teasing me and i said i listen to black music, jimi hendrix ,well he about fell off his forklift laughing so hard ,he shouted hes not black , man --hahaha thanks cant wait for 1968 another year that may be as good or better than 67. also i would have added DONOVAN, (my opinion). Great video thanks so much.
