Being a QLDer I was never a fan of Phil Gould but some of his commentary moments are gold. I can't quote word for word but: Kick it, then kick it again, and when you think you've kicked it too much, kick it again. Cometh the moment cometh the man. And his "Last Word" pre origin speeches that stirred the emotions, especially before Game 3 2012 with his tribute to the late great Auther Beetson.

I started watching Rugby League as a little kid in 1988 and Graeme Hughes was the best caller then on Channel 10. His calls of the Grand Finals really stick in my memory, especially the mighty Panthers ‘91 GF win. Rabs is a legend but Graeme Hughes was in some ways better I believe.

I love the video. Commentary is one of my favourite parts of sport. A lot of the time I love a highlight or a try because of the commentary and not the game itself. I have to say though, this list is totally broken without Andrew Voss. I'd argue he's just as good, if not better (in my opinion) than Ray Warren. "Prince ball back for Marshall, the footwork, the footwork, BENJI MARSHALL, now the speed, THE FOOTWORK AGAIN, AWAY FROM PEACHEY, PASSES WITHOUT LOOKING, AWAY FOR RICHARDS..BACK TO FITZHENRY. THAT IS AS GOOD AS YOU WILL SEE ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON ANYWHERE IN THE NATIONAL RUGBY LEAGUE. BENJI MARSHALL HAS SENT THE TIGERS FANS INTO A FRENZY. EVEN THE SHARKS FANS ARE APPLAUDING THAT. My greatest commentary moment was listening to 2CN radio (ABC Canberra) with a Raiders game, and someone Jackson was on the sidelines and had been doing a heap of drugs (I think he passed away from something like that not soon after). Anyhow, big Mal Meninga got the ball and was rampaging down the wing and Jackson on the sideline commentary was yelling "He's coming like a steam train!" and started making train whistle noises. Both hilarious and tragic at the same time.

Ray Warren's commentary on a dancing Jarryd Hayne versus the Dragons is one that I keep coming back too. Sterlo and Warren on Radradra versus Souths (''Don't pass'') is another that I savour. A great piece of commentary, for me, is more than just loudness or one line. Nobody among today's crop is as good as prime Ray Warren. I like Vossy but I feel that he's tending too much towards hyperbole and loudness these days on Fox League, rather than focusing in on the fun and the thrill.
