Hey Nadine! thank you for this video, super helpful. I do have one question based on one of the first things you said in the video. Why not just go as a tourist and work remote? Me and my friend want to travel through Asia while working remotely and are not staying longer than 30 days in each country. Would a tourist visa be ok and enough?

Hey Nadine. Can you please list down countries in which digital Nomad Visa could be turned to permanent residency?

A couple of additional tidbits. If you are a US citizen you MUST always taxes to the US. You may be able to skip the US taxes ONLY if the remote country has tax treaty AND you are paying more in that country. Also holding a foreign bank account requires extra paper work to the US gov't. It is pretty difficult to live in a remote country with out having a foreign bank account. The only way around this is if you renounce your US citizenship, which will make it VERY VERY VERY difficult to ever go to the US again, and may be impossible. The last point living in a foreign country is not as fun as it seems on social media. I have lived in several countries - lots of them are great for vacations, but not a places to live.

all very valid points, as with anything, there definitely are downsides and many other things to consider, like taxes, so it's defiinty not the picture-perfect lifestyle, but it can be a very nice change and a great life experience.

I’ve done some extensive research on Belize 🇧🇿 and Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱. Belize is an English speaking country. I plan to go for 1-3 months as I get my personal business up and running. Cost to live here ranges from 800$, not too realistic unless driving in from the countryside. 1200-1400$ per month. You must open a bank account with $500 usd. Internet and phone is most expensive at 100-110$. If you don’t find housing right away or plan ahead you can get a cheap room for 25-75$ per month. I’ve been to all of Asia but I’ve been back in America for 7 years and I’m ready to hit the road again. My first stop will be Belize given English is the National language. Reasonable internet 🛜 speeds. Best to pay the 100$ for fastest internet rather than 60$. Digi is the main telecommunications company. I may consider Columbia later but with all English speaking people. I’ll give it a try. Worst case scenario.. my $2400 rent in America 🇺🇸/ Seattle will cover all housing and food expenses for 2-3 months

These are all great destinations! Although I'm only going for a week and a half, I'll be visiting Georgia this September! I've heard so many great things about Georgia, and I'm really looking forward to going over there. I may also stop in Istanbul on the way since they aren't too far away.

please don't promote the digital nomad lifestyle without considering how detrimental foreigners from developed countries can be to local economies in other countries, especially less developed ones. There's currently a massive housing shortage in Portugal being exasperated by foreigners buying houses there + digital nomads willing to pay higher rents than any local can possibly afford. Wired (as well as tons of other news orgs) covered it in an article called "Welcome to Digital Nomadland"
