I'm a digital nomad and have been traveling around Southeast Asia for more than two years now. I'm sorry, but I think you're the kind of person who wants to get everything. In my opinion, none of the things you mentioned are problems. Maybe the digital nomad lifestyle is just not for you; maybe you need a classic 9-to-5 job. You can't get everything in life. If you really love traveling and living freely, you need to sacrifice a lot of things. But you will gain amazing experiences that are impossible to have in just one country. The things you mentioned are not even sacrifices. Of course, traveling and working at the same time is not comfortable, but it's amazing.

I was thinking the same, if travelling is a true passion, these "ugly truths" are just part of the adventure.

Digital nomadism is for adventurers - some people want to much comfort and too many 'friends' around them. Can't stand the heat. Move back home and put the slippers on.

I had to spend several months as digital nomad, while waiting for my visas. It was terrible. We basically spent a ton of money on Airbnb because we did not want to commit for a year. We needed two tables and separate rooms to have calls. Not easy to find. One apartment we rented did not have a vacuum!!! Imagine spending 3 months in apartment that you cannot properly clean? I cannot imagine how people nomad in southeast Asia.

oh boy, sounds like my personal nightmare haha. I think they're either young and/or don't care about comfort. when I was 20, I could easily go to festivals and sleep in a tent, now at 32, I'm like "sorry guys I require A BED" 😂

If someone reading this: 1. You don't have to stay in AirBnb's and you don't have to commit for 1 year (rental agreements). Just tell the landlords your situation and ask if the can make an exemption that if you decide to move out prior the end of the agreement, that you have to tell them 1 month in advance and you pay a little cancellation fee like $100-$300. Never had a problem with that. 2. If you need two tables, you just buy 2 used tables or the cheapest in a store. ($100-$200) and sell them again afterward. so you pay effectively maybe $50. 3. Vacuum cleaner -> Just buy a used one for $20 lol... Remember that EVERY problem can be solved. If you are complaining about "uuuh it costs extra money here and there..." ,well.. see it as a motivation to earn more

I sometimes think about the idea of working while traveling, of course creating bounds between work and leisure time. I believe it would be the simpler way to figure out whether a full digital nomad lifestyle really is for me or not. I've been looking for the easiest way to try it out. I hope I'll do that someday.

I started by becoming digital, then traveling near home for 6 months before heading to Mexico for my first 6 month trip.

It's definitely not a walk in the park. It's not as convenient as people think as most common necessities become rare and limited.

But... Literally none of that are digital nomads problems... It's countries you choose to live, palces you choose to stay, and your occupation problems... Maybe except social connections
